As an old K-pop fan this is a culture shock... Does this happen a lot?

Golden Child recently came back and fans are streaming the MV like crazy. Of course, the competition is formidable: (G)I-DLE, IU, Bobby, so the chances of winning are pretty bleak yet as long as there's a chance they're trying their best. The shows where Golden Child has a pretty solid chance of winning are The Show and MCountdown.

In line with this, some Golden Child fans who are also girl group fans found out that there is an undergoing underhanded manner of a certain fandom to try and give their idols a win- compromising Golden Child's chances in the process. At first, I thought it was BS until I saw the tweets myself and they're pretty... serious about what they're doing. They're even being proud of what they're doing, and you know how girl group stans gang up to help each other at times? That's the network they're dealing with.

Normally what people do to try and give their idols a win is of course buy albums, stream the song on music apps, and watch the MV for YT views. However this certain fandom did something else: report Golden Child's music video on YT. I don't know for what purpose nor how it will affect Golden Child but they seem to be doing it to increase their chances of winning. Some are also commenting hate on Golden Child's MV (which is pretty counterproductive).

While it's unclear whether reporting the MV or commenting hate (lol) causes a rift with the YouTube views or not, the fact is that they're doing this out of malice.

As a fan of INFINITE, VIXX, GOT7, and more, music show wins of course has always been competitive, but from what I remember, what we do is boost the stats of our idols. I've never seen a movement directed to the competition instead. However, as time passed by, with INFINITE and my other favorite groups achieving the "Why aren't you married yet?" age, I got less invested into such so it's a culture shock to me how new gen fans are THIS passionate and competitive that they do underhanded actions. Well, I've only been focusing on Golden Child and a few other acts these days so I can't say much, but is it always this severe nowadays?

Looking at golcha's mv right now, they have 700 dislikes, which is very low in general, and seems even lower if you compare that number to the 111k likes. Mass reporting the mv and leaving hate comments usually go hand in hand pressing the dislike button, so it seems that they don't have that many antis. Don't worry too much about it. Good luck to golcha!

Happens alot, happens more with smaller ggs however. Svt coincides with Twice at cbs alot, and once with BP, they tend to not hate or at least keep it twitter only, but smaller ggs like dia etc tend to try disliking and reporting. My suggestion is ignore them, they are in the end, still adding to views lol

Its more annoying when they spam same comments over and over tbh

I remember SF9 and ATEEZ had the Good Guy and Answer comebacks at the same time.
Fandoms went off at each other and the Good Guy MV got mass disliked.

But yeah, I feel like it's more and more the case, some toxic fans will, instead of pushing their faves up, try to bring others down.

Okay but what gg is it?

Probably dreamcatcher because they're promoting right now too. In fact they came second in the show and some of their fans were already shitting on golcha with their typical "I hate men" narrative.

Whenever I say gg stans are even more toxic than most bg stans people don't believe it but in twitter is literally horrible.

GG fandoms have bashed and harassed bgs and their fans multiple times but they always say that bg stans are "snowflakes" that take everything too seriously but if anyone say something remotely negative about their faves their the first ones making a scandal out of it.
