[enter-talk] WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF PRODUCE?
source: pannchoa

!All of the rigging controversy aside! Just look at the program itself. I hated to see trainees crying when they got eliminated or getting maliciously edited. But there is no other audition program that was as fun as Produce itself. I kinda miss supporting the trainees, voting for them, Pick Me and Nayana being the trend.. ㅎ What about you guys? Let's vote

Vote up: you like it, it's fun
Vote down: you don't like it

1. [+75, -3] Produce itself is so-so but as soon as Friday hits, me and my friends would get together and talk about Produce while eating late night snacks. I miss the times when it was a must watch, so I liked it

2. [+75, -2] To be honest, the idea behind Produce was indeed brilliant. How were they able to plan such program?

3. [+55, -3] Just thinking about back then feels like sh*t but if they do it again, I would f*cking enjoy watching it

4. [+33, 0] It's true that Produce has changed the idol landscape

5. [+18, 0] I was thinking about what the new season would look like and they will do that national producer thing again for sure...

6. [+17, 0] Ha.. f*ck, Joonyoung, why would you rig this.... Of course it was f*cking fun but it kind of disturbed? the idol's industry. Because of Produce, so many kanjaebi appeared (T/N: 간잽이 = fans who are not core fans but who just come and have a taste and leave)

Undoubtely Produce franchise changed the idol panorama generating new stars out of big 3 and amazing performances but at same time generating solo stans, the kanjeabi who are fake fans and saturating kpop industry.

Muggles liked the system of believe "they have the power of debut favorite trainee into the vote system". But the system ended as manipulation and corruption from producers and agencies.

without the rigging, evil editing and unnecessary dramatics, the idea of fans "making" a group does kinda make sense. such group is just bound the be succesful.

I really like the idea that we'll get a group from different Agencies. The Dynamics are something else, and their chemistry is also improving as the show goes on. We can see the actual growth of the participants, making the audience familiar with them if ever they don't make it to the final line up.

Hopefully we'll see a Produce Group that will be permanent. I really want it to be IZ*one tho.

i mean, technically there already is one.  JO1 is a permanent group formed through produce 101 japan.  but if you just mean the korean franchise...then i guess there's only one left anyway

I did like the idea. At first. And then the results weren’t going my way. So I was against it. lol. Just kidding.

ive only watched one season truthfully, season 2. While I think the overall idea is nice, a reality competition like this is going to ruin people’s careers before they even begin, inevitably. And that’s without all of the manipulative editing and rigging and such. It turned me off from watching similar shows, but if there are any that are better, I’m open to watch.

Yup. Correct. Definitely forgot about that too.

It was fun 2 watch but also hard to tbh.

In my situation. I watched s1 but my favs were...ibi basically. So my top picks made it to the top 20 but none got in top 11 OTL

And my ult got a kinda shady edit but she was kinda iconic in that way (haein)

In s2...haknyeon is my ultimate ofc.  And there's 'evil editing' that just makes u look bitchy a la haein, what they did to haknyeon is just twisted. They manipulated footage to make him look bad. They basically rigged him out of top 11 (which he was in every time before they did this, when he drop to like #20) he prolly would of made the group without this.  On bright side... tbz >>> and looking back I wouldn't want him added after or wait for tbz to debut. Could of not worked out with how well tbz doing now.

But that shit ruined produce for me. Like... if someone hated haein I'd joke or meme about her being shady and it was fun but it's not that serious. But istg... like I rmr me and other hakn stans had to hide in his individual thread bc we couldn't comment the simplest things in p101 thread without being negged. It was like [simple post about liking hakn] = like I don't rmr how much but negged, could be -5 or more. So it's not like every regular is an anti but what I hated more was the legit bash posts about him in there would get nobody joke 30 rep in like 15 min at most. Like haknyeon is here,  just trying his best,  mnet manipulate it to make him look bad. He's just an 18 kid doing his best but mnet bs got fans of the show harassing his mom, and saying he should of d worded w/ his dad when he was (still is) way too fking young to have a late parent. You'd think when his hate is this bad ppl would simmer down on bashing him (especially since he wasn't as bad as mnet made him look) and maybe let his Stan openly talk good about him but literally almost every other p101 Stan wrongly hated him. But ofc not. Tbz is doing well now so hopefully most those ppl realize how wrong they are bc there's no weak link in tbz... but it'll always make me mad rmring it bc its so fked up how wrong they did haknyeon - the show and fans (domestic & intl)

It sucks bc I swore off produce after that. And Izone my other ult besides tbz now but..I only started really listening to them (besides lver I always liked that)  I only went to listen to rest of their disco last year and it's just sad to me bc I watched s1&2 but didn't Stan group bc my fav  didn't make it. Now s3...I love the group. And I realize so late.  But I'm still gonna be devastated in April 😭😭😭

Yes. The show was fun and you got to follow many of the contestants whether they made the group or not

Sucks that it doesn’t seem like it’ll continue. Hopefully Girls Planet 999 can become the next big survival show (and be a Boys Planet 999 too)

Or Mnet should try to make their version of The Unit where it’s mostly underrated idols instead of trainees. This time without rigging, or at least be like “50% Mnet decision 50% fandom pick”

I was more interested in talking about it on the forum then the actual show lol. It was fun cause everyone was watching it and we all talked about it together, it made those time very fun back then.

The show was boring most of the time (for me personally), but the idea definitely worked well, having your specific picks and making the core fandom for it even before they debut cause you know they are the popular one (well, if we doesn't count rigging). It was already done before with those western talent show and they are still doing well today. Not ground-breaking, but with the competitive spirit of the Kpop community it really shined.

i liked the idea that the national producers (aka viewers of the show) have the sole power to decide who gets in the debut group thru voting,
And I liked that Produce provides all trainees focus cams, regardless of who their faves were
so even if there was devil/angel/ghost edits, I could just skip the episode and watch the focus cams instead.
Disliked the leaking of spoilers to certain trainees to give them a heads-up on the evaluations,
the edits without giving a disclaimer that scenes and characters may be staged/edited for plot purposes,
and most of all the voting manipulation by the production staff and certain companies.

I will support the new season if all of the following conditions are met:
- edit: Disclaimer on the edits at each episode
- Lineup is decided by the national producers votes only -- no involvement from judges or a select panel or a production crew.
- Clear and consistent voting guidelines -- no changes in the middle of the show
- Voting is transparent, legitimate, and audited by an independent and professional accounting firm.

The only one I followed was PD48. I knew the final ranking was rigged af and turned me off from following IZ*ONE, but I admit the show concept, performances and drama makes it highly entertaining and kept me watching. The PD48 thread here on OH was just as good as the show too lol
