My favourite songs are Somehow and On The Road.

The Somyi situation is really worrying and reminds me of former T-ara member Areum.

I wonder if DIA could get some more attention on Jueun and Yebin because they could become popular.

Sales-wise, their last album did better in the first month than their last so I saw no impact of not having Chaeyeon. But they still sell so little, at this point that is not good. I think they should wait until 2022 and disband, let the girls decide what to do with their careers.

They're still doing decently in the sense that they're not super nugu or anything but yeah, their sales are pretty low and they don't chart in most charts either 😕 I'm pretty sure most of them are probably aren't gonna renew but who knows.

they could've been bigger since jueun lowkey became a stan attractor once she was added to the group. and yebin was constantly the talk during their on the road days for being so pretty, lmao. in addition to chaeyeon and huihyeon, they literally have four ace members and somehow their company still fucked it up.

it just seems too late now. which is ironic since april is having a second chance. but that's because dsp at least tries with them... (at least a lot more than dia's company) i don't really watch them but i know they once said, and even eunjin said on her livestream that dia was known for not being funny (which they usually joked about), so that's not really helping lmao

I think april's case is different because it seems like they've always been a bit more popular than DIA to begin with, and Naeun as an actress also became more popular than most DIA members. Also sometimes you just need luck. April was lucky that lalalilala became a breakout hit while DIA's songs, despite being pretty good, never clicked with the public for some reason.

that's true, but dia definitely had leverage over them by having chaeyeon. april was definitely a more digital-based girl group, kind of like oh my girl in their earlier days. they had a fanbase, but it was small and loyal. while dia had a lot of more akgaes. and april also had an "attitude" controversy, multiple accusations of members being bullies/delinquents early in their career, so i feel like that could've stunted their growth for building up a larger following since that was what they became known for.

interestingly enough, even though naeun's acting transitioned well into the popularity of the group, i think it made the public more well aware of the group, specifically teens now, and somehow, the new fans joining in also became more spread out towards the other members and i rarely hear cases of naeun's akgaes tbh. or at least, cases that are that severe.

MBK could've done with Chaeyeon that DSP has done with Naeun which is to leverage her popularity to start getting gigs for other members. But (aside for sometimes with Heehyun) they never have. Because its MBK. If only one person in the a group is marketable the group can't survive.

They probably will disband when the contract runs out  - who ever stays with MBK after all - and good luck to them - I really like all the members especially Yebin and Eunchae.

That's accurate. Both OMG and April are more digital based ggs because even after the success of Nonstop/Dolphin and Lalalilala respectively it's not like their sales increased a lot, especially for April. I just checked and their last album (released in summer) only sold 14k, which it's less than rookie ggs like Weeekly and StayC. OMG's last album sold 52k, which it's pretty good but it's less than some ggs without big digital hits such as WJSN, Dreamcatcher and Loona that sell +100k. In DIA's case their sales are pretty low now but during Chaeyeon's peak popularity era they used to sell at least 20-30k so I agree their fandom back then was bigger than April's but somehow Naeun's popularity indeed translated to the whole group while in DIA's case most people just focused Chaeyeon and not the whole group (similar to Gugudan and people focusing on Sejeong/Mina only). MBK managed them badly but sometimes the public just don't get interested in a certain group even if they have good music and equally talented members 😕

It could be MBK wanted to push the other members but the TV programs/advertisers weren't buying. Even when DIA got the Burger King sponsorship as a group, Chaeyeon was the face of the actual CFs. But again this is MBK so I don't know if they should get the benefit of the doubt. No one who leaves it or KKS's management generally has anything nice to say. Just ask Shannon WIlliams.

I was hoping that The Unit would be a hit because it would have given the group a boost especially Yebin and Somyi (I know Eunjin said recently that DIA would never have been invited on Radio Star because they are not funny but I think she's wrong if you see any of their reality shows or various Youtube appearences - Somyi is/was very good at variety and legitimally entertaining- so is Eunchae). There was a hot minute there when Jueun was trending because of her visuals and her variety skills (she appeared on SNL without the rest of the group) and Yebin could have been pushed not just as a singer but her visual which I think rival Chaeyeon's (the running joke in the DIA forums that she is mixed-race she is so pale) and was not. Yebin is also the most unintentionally awkward kpop idol I've ever seen - just watch her in any Vlives or the videos she did with Eunchae with Edward Avila  - which makes for high comedy. MBK took advantage of none of this.

I love DIA. Been a fan since produce 101 but unfortunately due to MBK’s stupidity it just didn’t work out for them.

They’ll disband next year. Perched to see if they’ll keep eunchae, jueun, & somyi or let them end their contracts.

I actually hadn't thought of that. Since those three were added to the group later they might be tied to MBK longer (maybe even made to be in a new girl group like Seunghee was with DIA). That's depressing.
