ELF, Cassiopeia, Triple S

(Suju, TVXQ, SS501)

They're seriously the f*cking worst

 

They boycotted SNSD because they thought in their heads that they were flirting with their oppasㅋㅋㅋㅋ

 

This was during 2008's Dream Concert

That's how the light sticks looked like but look at when SNSD appearedㅋㅋ

The pink ones at the end were SONEs

When they were performing, people were shouting "Wonder Girls Wonder Girls"ㅋㅋ

 

The Catel (t/n: Cassiopeia+TripleS+Elf) were so scary that when they told other fans to boycott, they had no choice but to listen ㅋㅋㅋ

 

They're seriously the most evil ones

 

And besides TVXQ and SUJU are SNSD's sunbaes in the same company too?? 

 

Imagine EXO, Shinee and RV performing but Army telling other fans to close their light sticks and shout "Blackpink" or "Twice" during their performancesㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

 

That would be f*cking evil

All fandoms have messy people, but when you're a big fandom, those messy people can easily get together and be even messier in company of their peers.

I was like damn thats one long title lmao

but yeah old fandoms were like mafia in a sense o.o we had all kinds of situations, current fandoms are definitely more chill compared to them, just very annoying, at least no injury or police charges this era

Despite how some people on the international side see ARMYs... in Korea, ARMYs' rep isn't that bad. Especially compared to SM fandoms and some other veteran fandoms from the past... 

K-Armys mostly come out in numbers to defend BTS, otherwise K-Armys in general sort of keep a low profile and try to stay respectful during public events.

edit: There's a reason so many K-celebrities and more are not ashamed to call themselves Armys on public tv or praise Armys. The fandom's rep in Korea is known for being powerful and nice. This is portrayed on Korean tv too.  Mostly due to different acts K-Amrys (and I-Armys) have done throughout the years that have gained widespread attention and repsect in Korea.

oof definitely those, these bitches where crazy nowadays the bigger fandoms are just very annoying and not as crazy.  also i think Sone's  should also be there though they were very mean to other girl groups fandoms. personal the mess that happen when 4minute won against both SNSD and 2ne1  my poor 4nia's it was blackjacks and sone's ill never forget that.

But the bulk of toxicity is among i-Armys, k-Armys are pretty chill, so other k-fandoms don't really see it / it's not relevant to them, while all these other groups have mostly crazy korean fans who bully other korean fandoms, they're more visible to knets.

Sones weren’t much better back in the day though. You get a senior discount if you remember the bloodbaths between Sones and Blackjacks.

I liked all 3 groups a lot so I never understood the crazy vitriol. When I was 10 I actually met a 12 year old Korean girl who was totally anti-SNSD. Looking back it's only funny to me haha she was a nice kid but the fandom environment was really bad back then. She wasn't even sure why she disliked SNSD so much I don't blame her for lacking critical thinking at age 12 though lol

 

On topic, I feel like objectively ARMY has to be worse only because the fandom is massive enough that it now encompasses a whole lot more crazy than the above fandoms ever did. I do feel really bad for the fans (and BTS members themselves) who probably want nothing to do with that part of the fandom, though.

It's hard to compare because kpop is such a different beast these days. Now the "bad eggs" of the fandom tend to aim for folks like media outlet members instead of other fandoms.

The antis were generally more vicious too. Yunho received poison from an anti. And sasaengs would try to run TVXQ off the road and cause accidents. And fans of rival groups would beat each other up at concerts. It seems a little bit safer now. A little bit. 
 

EXO-L is the only fandom that comes close. The crazies were really awful, so were the sasaengs. ARMY are not as bad, the worst I’ve really seen is they can be bullies on social media but I have not heard of them being crazy in real life.

Is true that it was more like a mafia before but that doesn't mean it was worse. Just saying but a lot of 2nd gen fans are now fans of newer groups too. A lot of tendencies of bad fan behavior are still prevalent now, so I wouldn't say it was better or worse before.

Let me say this loud and clear: When Twice debuted, Sones were the worst lol. For someone who has been following Kpop for more than a decade, I can still clearly remember the toxicity SOnes exerted throughout the years. Not the case anymore, as even more 3rd Gens fandom being super-toxic

Honestly I am glad to see that current big fandoms slowly are getting a bit better. Take dating situation for example - there are talks about it now at least, even if idols steal face backlash. Years ago? It would be impossible. Situation with sasaengs while still is very bad overall, but more fans in the current fandoms are aware not to support the trashes. Years ago it was a norm

This was before my time but sidenote I hate the precedent it sets bc nowadays...eh pre covid that is. If you watched perf at like joint concert etc and you couldn't hear screaming or the crowd isn't 100% lit up, fans go trend hashtag for them and talk about black ocean.. pittying  the groups when it's really small things that I'm sure the idols didn't think twice of. The crowds isn't gonna be loud af and hype up for every perf, hours on end.  I don't know really specifics on the snsd black ocean but from pics and what ppl say i can gather it was an extreme effort by anti to fk with them that is not commonplace these days. If so would def be talked ab widely like this one was & still is to this day
