It’s Japan, so it’s not really abnormal for them to debut 12 year olds lol

If one did make it, that would be a 12 year gap between K and the ‘09 liner

2009?? That's literally 11-12 y/o but yeah, it's not rare for jpop groups to have literal children. Some johnny's and AKB48 members have debuted at that age too.

As for their debut date, I guess summer? Definitely not earlier than july-august because they have to debut the BH x Soumu gg first and promote them well.

I feel the GG will debut soon. 1st quarter.

In general, i dont think BH is worry about the two debuting near each other since two different markets. Japan and Korea.

Considering the gg still hasn't been introduced and we're almost in mid january, I'm guessing a march-april debut for them, or even a bit later but we'll see.

And yeah, it's 2 different markets but BH is still the main company  managing both so I'm guessing they'd want to focus in promoting the gg well first and then focus in the jpop bg later.

I'm thinking that if they allow people born since 98 they could've added Hanbin too since he was precisely born in 98, so this basically confirms BH plans for him is debuting him as a solo kpop idol or as a hybrid kpop/vpop idol, but definitely not in a group.

March is 1st quarter and April is near it. So it fits. With all the articles being released (media play) is making me say the above.

I disagree lol. Bighit have many employees and teams. Similar to JYPE team method. Also we've been introduced to a few of the specific Japanese head staff.

Nontheless the GG debuting with the first part of the year and the Japan BG in the 2nd part sounds reasonable.

Unless they want the second oldest (98 liner) to be Japanese specicfaclly.

honestly... I really don't get why Nicholas, Kyungmin and EJ are being put in a Japanese group

it's also weird that they have half a team confirmed and they're just going to add people????

4th gen things ig

I guess, its debut with this new project or remain a trainee hoping you get another chance or leave...TT

The only reason it's weird is because we know about it ahead of time lol. But behind the scenes companies go through many line ups before officially finalizing the debut line up. Have a few members they know will debut but still look for other members to add.

one example: BTS line up changed multiple time from 2010 to 2012. By time BH got to the new round of auditions that would eventually add the last few members, BTS technically already had half the line up confirmed. Of course, we didn't know this then, but learn through interviews over the years about their trainee period and when each member joined the group.

yeah that's true, I think it mostly depends on the company size though because nowadays that doesn't happen as much with mid-tier/big companies - bts was like a lineup that got reshuffled because bh was poor/the pool of trainees was the debut team

it's probably because BH hasn't had an official Japan branch to date (I think) that they need to add more people but this system feels kind of weird. At the very least I find it strange that they've disclosed a few of the members, it seems risky

Hmmm I don't know if size matter. Companies are not perfect and plans change all the time behind the scenes. Plus, trainees come and go. Reshuffling of a line up seems normal to me.

But yea agree the Japan subsidiary is new. I feel they disclosed since ILAND was popular and there are fans eager to know what happen to their favs.

I totally agree with you I should've worded it better akgfjfdkklg

I just meant really small companies tend to envision a group, audition specifically for that group, and then maybe hold additional auditions as members come and go within that lineup (ie bts), whereas these days big companies tend to have a pool of trainees at the ready and secure a debut lineup every so often. You don't see this kind of thing happen with a company of that size very often these days, but I guess this situation calls for it since they:

a) are probably trying to build hype like you said, which seems to be working

b) have specific members at the ready

c) are working with a new subsidiary

you've convinced me lol, I'm still lowkey iffy about korean trainees in a j-group, but then again, I guess it works the other way around??

It's ok! This discussion is open and peaceful!

Anyways, even with a pool of trainees sometimes companies still don't have the exact trainees they're looking for.

Before Blackpink and Aespa both YG and SM reshuffled the line up for their new girl groups. We don't even know how many times since that information haven't been reveal yet. Also it's assumed even JYPE with Sixteen already had part of the line up for Twice determined ahead of the show. We know a few of the members were even suppose to debut in another group. Sixteen in my opinion was basically to fill in the rest of the group.

I agree with all your points from A-C.

Nicholas isn't Korean so he was already prepared to work in a market outside of his home country. About ej and kyungmin yea it probably was a diffult decision to make. But I guess they felt it's the best option. At least they're still signed with Bighit. Potential to collaborate with other BH labelmates and even release their own solo Korean music perhaps one day. Above all Japan is a profitable market. As you said it's basically the same as foreign members working in the Kpop indusrty.
