En- debuted Nov 30th and they're already the 2nd highest charting 4th gen* Kpop group on Oricon Year End chart o.o Plus, in general the only 2020 Kpop rookie to chart on it.

*Yes, I agree it's debatable if 4th gen has started. Tho for the sake of this thread, 2018-2020 is 4th gen.

That's really impressive, especially considering they only have one japanese member (I know having japanese members don't necessarily mean they're gonna do well in Japan but it always helps).

I hope their k-fandom grows too tho. People have dragged them a lot for "flopping" in k-charts despite the survival show and the Big Hit name but they did the same with TxT last year and now they're the best charting post-2018 boygroup so I hope the same happens to them. They have a lot of potential.

So far it looks like they're on the right track. Not doing well on k-chart does not mean En- don't have a decent size fandom in korea. Many boy groups have good sized k-fandoms but do bad digitally. En- literally are only a month old, they still have plenty of time (years) to grow. [txt too]. As you said, they have a lot of potential.

we get border: day two > they surpass 500k sales > fandom grows bigger > border: day three is a full album > fans go all out > 800k sales > decent digital charting commence > en- is the leading boy group of this generation yup yup!!!

I know but to chart decently in k-charts you need at least a fandom of the size of Seventeen or NCT and even those 2 groups have struggled since melon reform. Right now BTS is pretty much the only boygroup that can chart /really/ well but for example TxT is doing pretty decently for a new gen boygroup (ie: charting top 100 on melon daily, staying for months on melon top 500-1000, etc) and they achieved that when they got a bigger k-fandom and more attention from the GP. So I hope Enhypen grows like that too even if it takes a few years. They're only 15-19 right now so they have all the time in the world to grow lol.

I don't think they reach 800k that soon but 400-500k for their first or second comeback is definitely doable. Usually bgs that sell 500k and over do at least decently digitally (SVT, NCT, TxT, etc). The key is getting a big k-fandoms because i-fans can only help with stuff like youtube views, spotify streams, physical sales etc but they can't do sh*t in k-charts except maybe in Genie.

17/NCT/BTS....En- fandom of course isn't huge like the biggest boy groups right now in Kpop, they're only a month old.

Which is why I said, not doing well on k-charts do not mean a group do not have decent size k-fandom. Many boy groups traditionally tend to lack public recognition. And the public (casual fans) are beneficial for k-charts.

Tbh I feel how they're doing right now on k-charts is irrelevant to their growing k-fandom^^

But I never said their fandom was small, just that they'll probably chart better when their k-fandom grows bigger. For example most RTK groups have improved their digital charting after gaining a bigger fanbase, especially The Boyz. I know that charting is mostly GP driven but imo, a big k-fandom can always push you in the charts because you have at least a decent number of fixed unique listeners.

In En- case, they peaked 500s on melon and then dropped to 700s and eventually out of the top 1000 so my point was that if they had a bigger k-fandom they would've stayed at least for longer in the top 500-1000 like groups such as the boyz or TxT.

I guess, I misinterpreted "I hope their k-fandom grows too tho". For me, while yes of course a huge k-fandoms is good, it's not something I'm worried and/or thinking about right now with En- since they're doing fine as a young group. Plus their fandom don't show signs of not gradually growing.

Maybe I didn't phrase it well but with "I hope that their fandom grows" I didn't mean they don't have k-fandom or that their fandom is very small. Obviously if they sold 300k in a month and charted in some charts like Bugs and Genie (even if it was low) it means they already have a bigger k-fandom that other "nugu" groups that don't chart anywhere but I just want them to gain an even bigger fandom so they can chart better like it happened to TxT or some RTK groups.

Even a bigger i-fandom would be nice too. Groups like ateez or stray kids have a mostly international (western) fanbase but i-fans can stream in youtube or certain k-charts like genie which helps to give them more popularity and exposure. But yeah, I agree that they're doing pretty well for a 1 month old group. This idea that all groups from big or decently popular companies have to debut with a smash hit is unrealistic, especially for boygroups because they don't have GP support like it happens with ggs.

I see. Then yea in general bigger is always better.
