I think solo stages are fully dependant on the singer's voice and charisma. If I like a soloist, it's usually because I like their voice and overall vibe so complex dance routines are not a requirement. It also depends on what the artist is trying to sell themselves for. If it's for the voice, you definitely don't want them dancing too much because no one can sing flawlessly while dancing. If instead their focus is on performance, dance and visual elements, then of course the more innovative and eye-catching the dance routine is, the better it is. But I feel like both types of soloists have been proven to be equally succesful if what they bring on the table is good.
