How are they doing after Hanbin scandal?
Any rumors? Plans for future group or solo comebacks?

recent releases:

The New Kids is the first compilation album, released on January 7, 2019. It is a compilation of the 2017 single album New Kids: Begin, the 2018 album Return, the digital single "Rubber Band", and the EPs New Kids: Continue and New Kids: The Final. It features the lead single and only new track, "I'm OK". This is the last iKON album to feature the appearance of member B.I before his departure in June 2019. (source: wikipedia)

I Decide was released on February 6, 2020 with "Dive" serving as the album's title track. Songs B.I worked on, prior to his departure from the group in mid-2019, were included in the album.  (source: fandom)

It’s kind of crazy how much their physical sales have dwindled. It’s like... I know they will be coming back at least once a year, but YG never makes enough noise about it, which makes it go under the radar. They’re literally being overshadowed by almost all YG groups. Winner members promote on variety shows a lot, which keeps their brand alive, plus they release music at a regular basis. Treasure is new, so attention and resources will be going to them. Blackpink is their only girl group, and their biggest sellers. AKMU... are a literal force to be reckon with. And not to mention the future new girl group.

They definitely lost all their momentum after Love Scenario and Goodbye Road, right where it seemed like they were entering a new beginning for them. It just seems like they’re going stagnant now and I don’t see them gaining a mass amount of fans that can propel them back to top 5, tbh. With the way YG is managing them anyway. I’d give them two more comebacks before they’re unfortunately disbanded.

Nope, they're way past their peak. It's gonna be two years soon since their last release and YG doesn't seem to have any plans for them. I think at this rate most of them are probably just waiting for the contracts to expire to move on (Chanwoo will probably go back to be an actor, Bobby as a solo, etc).

I don't even think a comeback is possible in the near future, less alone becoming a top 3-5 boygroup. If anything, YG wants Treasure to become a top boygroup.

They've never been big sellers (same as Winner) but I just checked and....yikes, they sold 55k only which it's what low mid-tier groups like Golcha, Oneus, A.C.E, etc are selling. Also, the saddest thing is that even during their peak (love scenario and goodbye road) they didn't even gain that much attention because the GP liked the songs but they didn't show actual interest in the group. They're one of the few boygroups that aren't fandom driven but unfortunately these bgs that rely almost exclusively on the GP, at the end have it worst than fandom driven groups because at least these groups are never gonna completely flop.

Sadly they peaked in 2018.

And YG management was so bad and will be bad until end.

They had a big potential and distinct color from another bgs.

If they don't have better promos for next album or YG declines Kingdom invitation (good promo for rebranding) iKON will be dungeoned until 7 years contract ends in september 2022.

I think Covid ruined YG plans of Japan and SEA shows until end of contract.

Yunhyeong and Chanwoo are making YT content for not lose hype with faithfully fans.

DK is focused in YGX dance academy.

The rest are lost of sns.

i wonder if yg was going to ship them on a tour (that took up the year)

i remember they had a decent size fandom in japan.

@rananicolee It seems before that variety show (which started in Nov) they also had a short series on IDOL LIVE account in Sept.

they've also started doing vlogs on their youtube account

perhaps YG is trying again 🤔

I guess after fans started complaining they realized they can’t hide them.

I guess YG don't want them to lose the fans they have left (at least until their contract expiration) but I don't think they're gonna push them beyond stuff like reality shows, lives, etc for fans and maybe tours when the covid situation improves a bit. It's pretty clear they don't have any interest in making them a top group anymore because they have Treasure now that actually sells great so...

Most of the YG groups tour which causes little variety appearances.

For example, BigBang legit has only three full albums and a bunch of minis due to the fact YG wanted them to tour more and more after 2010 which caused massive complaints from VIPs. They only got variety appearances due to fan complaints.

I know touring brings in the money but just touring has caused many of the YG artists mental stress.

I kinda see them like SM senior groups. SM don't push their senior groups like DBSK, SuJu, SHINee etc anymore aside from 1-2 comebacks at most in the year, but they have them mostly touring (especially in Japan) because it's a good way to get quick cash. So I'm pretty sure that's what YG has in mind for iKON: having them touring to get some decent money and releasing content for fans in youtube/vlive, and maybe 1 ocassional comeback per year.

true, to much touring isn't always good

After controversies and scandals, it's  definitely impossible to be in top 5, not even top 10. Like somebody said, they'll just focus on touring like many other older groups. They've actually been touring and shipped to Japan before Love Scenario, so after covid eventually subside and situation getting better, they'll just continue touring.

I have some ic/ikonic moots so I know that they had a group comeback earlier this year and are now recording new music for their comeback ( they have been hinting at it being soon ) also Bobby has been pretty active , he got an OST , featured in Mino's album and performed with him on music shows and been invited to perform in multiple festivals . Also some members are invited to variety shows recently.

iKON is a really young group and talented group I wish them the very very best .
