Kpopstarz: Genie Music has revealed the winners under some categories for this year's Genie Music Awards. To be eligible for the 2020 Genie Music Awards, music must have been released from January 1, 2020 to November 15, 2020. Like before, winners for different categories will be determined through judging criteria that include online voting, digital sales, judge's scores, and social media. The percentages of the criteria vary per category. Genie Music is yet to announce the winner of the "Artist of the Year" award as the online voting is still ongoing. Lim Youngwoong is currently in the lead, followed by Kim Hojoong, and BTS.

 

2020 Genie Music Awards

Song of the Year: Any Song - Zico (Daesang)

Album of the Year: Map of the Soul: 7 - BTS (Daesang)

Best Dance Track: Dynamite - BTS

Best Rap/Hip Hop Track: Any Song - Zico

Best R&B/Soul Track: Holo - Lee Hi

Best Ballad Track: Like the First Time - MC the MAX's

Best OST: Aloha - Jo Jung Suk (Hospital Playlist)

Best Trot: Trust in Me - Lim Youngwoong

yep. 

although koreans are trot fans - basically everyone listen to some form of trot.

however this year specifically certain trot artists are the trend.

but we all know many older koreans are not spending time voting on these awards site. neither is the public overall either. it's kpop fans in korea mostly. and they're either voting bts or trot it seems.

in korea no other kpop group really stands out in comparison to bts this year. when considering everything they've achieved for korea too.
