I forgot that Twice used to be that girl when it came to 24 hr Youtube views

I stumbled on this video recently and was SHOCKED when some of Twice's older songs started appearing in the top 10.  I guess I forgot that they were hit hard by that rule change.  Why were BP and BTS able to survive the rule change tho?  Do the new rules favor international views over national views?

A lot of BTS views actually come from Korea though

But yeah, it's kinda odd how Twice came from having one of the highest first day views in 24 hours until 2018/early 2019 and suddenly they dropped a lot since Feel Special. But they still get a lot of views and they're basically the most viewed artist after BP and BTS so...

I don't think Twice stans stream as hard as they used to. The fandom is getting old too, as you get older you tend not to care about stuff like that anymore. As an EXO-L, I used to care a lot and stream the hell out of their songs, but they won a lot of awards and have a successful enough career now that I just buy the album and listen on spotify, and many of my fellow stans are also like that. Twice's fandom might be going through the same process.

Agreed, and as the fandom grows up and starts working etc you've got more money but less time.

But by that logic, shouldn't BTS fandom be even older since they debuted 2 years before Twice?

But BTS weren't that popular when they debuted, it took quite a while. I believe when they started getting big, Twice were already very popular. Plus, BTS 's main target is a younger audience, like teenagers. Their older fans that grew up with them may not be interested in hardcore streaming anymore, but they reach a wide audience and keep attracting new teenage fans who are very interested in that kind of thing.

I think Twice's music kinda grew up with them? It was kinda childish at first, but their latest releases seem more appealing to a more adult audience too. Bts's, on the other hand, seem more targeted to younger people than when they first started, probably because of their success in the US and the fact that they're now kinda being the One Direction of this generation, so they're targeting that type of audience.

Edit: I also want to add that BTS's core fandom is made of girls, and girls tend to work harder for their faves.

A good chunk of BTS fans are actually in their mid-late 20s and even 30s/40s though. You can even see that in the demographics in their articles. And their target isn't necessarily teenagers, especially not since late 2016/17. I don't think songs like BST, Spring Day, Fake Love, On, etc are typical teen pop at all. Even their more upbeat songs like BWL and Dynamite are just radio friendly but not necessarily for teenagers. If anything the school trilogy during their rookie years (2013-14) and the youth trilogy later in 2015 were more targeted to teenagers, but like I said, since late 2016 aprox they started to change to a more mature and GP friendly style and gained many older fans.

I think the thing with BP and BTS is precisely that. They not only have their core fandom, they have a LOT of casual listeners too. Twice obviously does too, but not as much as these two imo.

I don't know, I feel like Bts's music has always been targeted to younger people, but more so lately. Anyway they do have a lot of casual listeners, and that plays a huge part. Twice has a strong fandom, but not many casual listeners who go watch their mv.

Another thing: I think the people who started following Twice from the beginning or almost still make the majority of their fandom, while for BTS the people who followed them since debut are the minority of thier current fandom, since they have so many new fans. People stream hard when they start stanning and they're excited about the group, they don't actually keep streaming 24/7 forever, do they (if they do they're exceptions). I used to stream hardcore for my faves when they debuted and for a few years after because it was new and I was excited and wanted to give it my all, but now it's been 8 years and I'm just enjoying their success, I don't really care about streaming anymore, I'm kinda over it. I think Twice fans are just over it.

Spoiler

About BTS, imo, their best era was around 2016 with The Most Beautiful Moment in Life and Wings, two great albums tbh, especially Wings, forever in my playlist, after that it kinda went down. But it could be just me. I do still like their solo songs though, especially Suga's.

Not just in streaming, overall aspect, I do noticed that Twice started to get less and less hype these days. And their fandom isn't as aggressive as they used to be. Their releases these days don't become as big hit as their releases a couple of years ago. Although their latest release I Can't Stop Me is such a great song (musically their song quality went up imo), it's a shame that it didn't get as much attention it deserves. Even charting wise I expected them to be in top 10 but they managed to be in top 20 at best. I know the new digital charting system rule makes it hard to idols to chart easily as they used to, but I expected much better because of the "Twice" brand and reputation in Korea. If this were last year or a couple years ago when Twice was hot, trending, they would easily chart in the  top 10 or even get top 5 even with a new charting rule.

I agree and being a twice fan all the way from sixteen, I love their recent music even more than before. So idc much about views when they're killing it music wise. I haven't stopped replaying their new album

From a perspective of a non-fan I think their music quality is much better these days. I wished they get more recognition for quality releases and mature concepts. I think they're at a point where they're starting to be like how SNSD was after The Boys/IGAB with maturity (the girls are becoming ladies), hence gaining more fangirls than fanboys hence it explains the increasing physical sales but the digital sales aspect not as good as before. But overall, Twice is still doing good. Many groups still wished they're at Twice's position.
