my opinion/comments are based on what i read in the op. simple.

at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what they do. these companies will put themselves first before the trainees. which they can replace if necessary.

the company aren't their parents. Its their workplace run by people who have to feed their own families. But yeah I guess that's a bad thing. Nobody should put themselves first.

I never said not paying their employees is good thing. (working with cj/mnet isn't the only way to make money, so...)

They don't have to be their parents to treat the trainees better.

Nonetheless, since "the company aren't their parents" their not obligated to protect them. Ok. Meaning they don't care about the trainees who were victims.

Finally, an industry insider added on, "This issue should not end simply with this 'compensation' that Mnet promised to the victimized trainees, but the broadcasting station must work to ensure that they receive certain treatment which assures their future activities, and these negotiations must consist of visible actions which viewers can confirm. Now that the names of the trainees have been revealed, this is no longer a two-sided matter between Mnet and the victims."

This would actually be a good recompense (in addition cash settlement). CJ certainly has the power along all levels of Korean media to give the victimized trainees the kind of attention and mediaplay they should have had. Certainly someone like Kaeun who is starting an acting career and thanks to Mnet has tossed away her idol dreams could be given opportunities on variety shows or TV drama produced by CJ.

you're not even being able to say how you exactly want them to protect. but okay.

The vibe I'm getting from these companies is they don't care about their own victimized trainees.

They've already accepted "the reality of the entertainment industry."

All they care about is keeping a good relationship with CJ/Mnet.

Once again proving the music industry is not pretty.

Well if you're a small company would you go against cjenm knowing they own:

TV channel:

  • TVN family Network: TVN, XTVN, O TVN, TVN D
  • OCN family of networks: OCN, OCN Movies, OCN Thrills, OCN Studio
  • OnStyle
  • O'live
  • CATCH ON
  • Chunghwa TV
  • OGN
  • Tooniverse
  • DIA TV
  • UXN
  • English Gem

Movie Studio:

  • Studio Dragon (the biggest movie production company)

Music Business

  • Stone Music Entertainment (Music label and one of the biggest Distribution company)

The CJ Group is HUGE to have not only hand on South Korean Market (in multiple business Food, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Technological, Entertainment, Home Shopping, Logistic), but also all over Asia, and the US.

So yeah going against cj as a small fish, you will end up banned from all these platform. And then what having to lose their only income and shut down their entire company and have everyone fired just to save ONE person. Sometimes you have to make a sacrifice it's horrible to say, but it's the reality.

Sis I already know how big CJ is...the wikipedia-like post isn't necessary.

There are plenty of small companies that didn't participate with the Produce franchise due to knowing it's unfair. Or didn't anymore once they realized.

In general, these are some of reps, perhaps others will do differently.

As if "fans" of the victim help. They are only in this for the drama and will move on to the next juicy thing while the victims either stay trainee or flop.

The lack of support from the public is exactly why small companies are powerless against Mnet.
