The group hasn't even debuted and their fandom on social media is already giving me reasons to punch my screen.

ehhh this one's a bit more shaky. similarities with k/da are more obvious, but this one's debatable.

lots of music videos are filmed in a subway train... i was actually just rewatching mariah carey's "a no no" yesterday and her MV is also in a subway car with neon lights and graffiti. a subway set is a common motif people use in MVs. it also seems odd that people would assume he worked on this and congratulate him on a collaboration without fact checking first LOL

Sad to see this. Unfortunately it's not the first time SM has done this and their way out of it is to later send some money to the original creator and make things silent that way.

It's always a tricky situation because on one side I don't like the idea of cancelling a group for something they never had a say on, but on the other hand it's incredibly unfair to the original artist involved. I think in the end giving them some compensation is still better than nothing because it's clear they plagiarized it and SM has enough money to do all the original content they might ever want to do. An example of this are the drawings and concepts present in the Red Velvet museum. It was nice to see they had employed artists to carefully design everything about the music videos and those didn't have anything that was blatantly stealed.

There is clearly a problem with some of the concept artists and stylists SM has been employing (because let's face it, they are doing it on purpose shielded by the power of money) and I wish there was a way to make it clear that it's not a fair thing to do because other people need to eat too. Imagine not being able to sell your own artworks because a bigger company stole it from you and you don't have enough money to sue them...that sucks BIG time.

Edit: Also for me the line really draws at the image of the snake. If they had just used the subway filled with flowers, it would have been hard to say it was stolen because they could have just come up with that same aesthetic. But using the snake too...it's obvious they found both of these images and decided to shamelessly copy them. The author got scared and took down the post but they had all the reasons to be angry. Also this guy has 115 million followers on Instagram, there is NO WAY they just accidentally found the videos on Pinterest without credit...
