BTS made it into a video about auto-tune from a music channel

it turned out to be a pretty interesting video even if ubiquitous pitch correction ain't news to you.

I guess BTS was there as an example of full fledged dancers-performers who sound ok live cause one only wishes, and wishes strongly, BH were subtle enough to manage to fool you

I always assumed its their style, their autotune is very obvious, but i assumed it as part of the song rather than anything they try to hide, maybe i thought wrong o.o

I did too think it was just a rather unfortunate decision their producers made but their live performances gradually made me loose that notion. i still don't think their vocal line is so bad they just aren't capable to produce good takes in a studio setting, not at all. but my perception changed and now i don't see this over the top pitch correction on studio tracks(eg ON) as a stylistic choice but rather a forethought for live performances - they can use auto-tune on mics and it blends over background studio track well without creating a glaring difference between studio and live versions.

Yeah thats what i assumed too, one producer going crazy with autotune rather than an attempt to hide something. BTS is nowhere near worst vocalists in kpop, I dont ask them to be hongki (he is godly) but it would be nice to hear their raw, or at least with minimal pitch correction vocals. Maybe they do that in fanmeets etc tho who knows o.o its one of the reasons i cannot warm up to their more recent songs, so i hope they reduce autotune a little bit

i would say they don't use it much on tours. i mean naturally dvds are edited in prod but concerts themselves are all right, you don't hear the sound going all wonky when they mess up. but then again who knows, shit acoustics in large venues plus backtrack make it hard to judge.

honestly it's kinda understandable for their recent songs. since fake love they not only perform but debut their songs live on billboard awards, snl etc. which is miles away from a m countdown, it must be hella nerve wracking and they don't have a stellar vocal training to rely on.

they get outside help to my knowledge for vocal training, but its hard to change years of technique
