iKnife BurnCat 1,729
I'm a kpop fan for 7-8 ish years and for some time now I noticed that I don't enjoy new comebacks as much as before. For example, when one of the groups I stan had a comeback, I watched all the stages (more than once), watched varierty shows etc. and I just really enjoyed the entire period of them promoting. It felt kinda like a reward for all this time waiting from their previous comeback. Nowdays I can just watch 1 or 2 stages and that would be enough, have no desire to watch more stuff. Because of that their comebacks don't have such an impact to me as before. They get unnoticed in a sense. And it's NOT because I don't enjoy the music anymore, becasue I really do like both today's kpop music and from the past years. So Idk what has changed. Maybe there's a limit of years how long you can stan Kpop. 7 year contracts maybe What do you think, do you still enjoy every single comback of your faves?
rananicolee 10,266
Enjoy the album releases because new music but I stopped watching the performances from my faves years ago. I just feel like if I see one performance then I've seen them all.
Yknocker 26
KPop became atomized and the newer acts only target a certain segment of pop, ignoring the needs of the general public.
Your Biggest Fan 2,437
I think what it is is that you got used to the flashiness of it all so it doesn't impress you. You're probably burnt out. Kpop is very formulaic and it gets repetitive when everyone starts copying each other trying to cash in on the trend. I'd just stick with listening to the music, watching the mv once or twice and looking at some concepts. All the shows and everything else aren't necessary to enjoy Kpop. I don't stan specific idols or groups either, so I don't have that "loyalty" to stick around when the music sucks. If you put out good music I'll stay and listen. If you don't then bye.
AR.SONE 531
For me it's the lack of originality in music and concepts, there are a some things I liked in the last couple years but overall it feels pretty samey. Before it was like ''can't wait to see what they do next'' and now it's like ''I hope it's not *song title* 7.0''

westrocket 415
perhaps it's also an issue with older groups vanishing more and new groups coming in. at least for me there are so many new groups and fresh faces and suddenly these new idols i don't know are the talk of the town. even if you follow a same group for a long time the passion can fade away easily and it most likely will at one point or another. i was really into seventeen for a couple of years but now i feel like i know them. there are no more mysteries about them left for me to unravel but i still follow them casually. i do agree with previous comments about too much predictability in music. groups really need to try more to create their own styles and try new things
BlackVelvet9 2,683
Personally I've never watched every performance or variety show of my faves in years of being in kpop but I stll very much enjoy new music as long as you may enjoy the new songs I don't see problems with it
gibi 4,504
I went through that last year, I was finding everything a lil too boring and repetitive... Then I stepped back, stopped listening to it for a while and enjoyed whatever else I wanted to enjoy (other types of music and such), and now I'm back on the kpop train and I'm loving it lmao but I don't watch variety (my only exception is Gfriend's) and I don't really bother with most live stages either. It's maybe "low effort stanning" but I don't care, as long as I'm enjoying the music I'm good
Belkiss 22,803
been a fan since 2008, i felt that i was over kpop back in 2012 and similar feeling since 2019 both periods of time share something in common , hard life . it all depends on my personal life and mood to fully enjoy something but it's true tho, even in Korea, idols are no longer that impactful. Guest
no it's just boring, i honestly feel theres too much content? from all the vlives + group yt channel content + other yt channel content + all the tweets, theres just too much to keep up. 1 hour ago, rananicolee said: I just feel like if I see one performance then I've seen them all. this. some groups either have no good performers, or they only have 1 or 2 and theyre buried + most groups barely sing live so whats the point
202020 52
Yeah kinda the same to me. I guess its the repetitive and predictable nature of kpop. K-pop are all about fads, trends and they don't last hence ppl becoming more bored and uninterested and years go by. I feel like as I'm getting older, kpop is becoming boring and doesn't seem as exciting and fun as before especially compared to when I first discovered it
lighterxx 12,204
I was never a type to watch every stage lol, I tend to watch most popular ones, watch others if I want to Otherwise I still enjoy my fave's songs, maybe bcs they are quite frequent with concept change? So I don't feel like "oh no not the ***2.0" like ever o.o For varieties, I never watched every variety I don't have such type of free time lol, I only watch svt's
echobunny 2,314
honestly, once you see what goes on behind the scenes it's hard to "love" what you see on tv/online you're not too old, you probably just realized how fake everything is young k-pop fans will get to that point eventually as well (except crazy delulus) so just try to enjoy the music
LoonAespa 610
LOONA's consistant evolution and growth is the only thing that I'm here for in Kpop. hopefully Aespa manage to wow me (especially their vocal skills.)
LoonAespa 610
Stan LOONA for innovative concepts!
nr123 456
I know what you mean. I've been a fan since 2009 and for the past couple of years I've noticed that I'm as big a fan as I was. Back then I would also watch every music show of my faves, watch whatever eng subbed content there was, my favourite being star golden bell (pls bring it back). And now I watch the mv and then maybe listen to the album (right now there is not a single group that interests me enough to actually really support them like I did Brown Eyed Girls or SNSD back when I got into Kpop) and even variety shows like Running Man which I was really addicted to and loved watching I haven't seen in close to three years. It's probably a mix of Kpop sort of losing that mystique that surrounded it for me back when I just got into it but I also think it is also that the concepts and styles as well as the general sound isn't as good as 2007-2013 imo as well as just being jaded since I've been engrossed it it for a long time I recently found a vlive stream of a seventeen member playing old kpop songs and just talking about them which I've found really enjoyable. Hearing all these songs that I really liked but forgot about again has been fun.
hynapia 3,977
I feel it's being kinda stale for the past 2 years or so because it's always the same few established groups getting all the hype/attention and there's a lack of fresh competition in the idol market. Also, the music and concepts except for a few groups (especially less popular groups) have become kinda repetitive (girl crush/teen crush for ggs and dark/mature/badass for bgs). But I think after new and anticipated groups like Enhypen, Aespa, BH x Soumu gg, YG gg, etc debut late this year and next year and 4th gen start to rise, it'll become more entertaining again. Personally for me it's not boring though. I enjoy the comebacks and the performances of my favorite groups a lot.

No1 6,265
Been a fan since 2009 and felt that way as well after SNSD started fading away, but LOONA grabbed my interest all over again, even more so than Soshi ever did. I also thought I was gettign too old for kpop, because none of the acts interested me. LOONA has me switching my entire sleeping schedule to Korean time just so I can watch their stages atfreakingfourinthemorning, or brushing up on my shoddy af Korean so I can kinda have a gist of what they mean during their appearances. I never got that "connection" with other groups, even though I became a casual fan for groups like Twice, RV and such. I like them, but that's it. Guess I'm trying to say it's a matter of finding that one group that makes you wanna do those things again. I kinda resisted to LOONA at first, because I didn't wanna be an "auntie fan", but whatever, enjoy what you enjoy as long as it's not hurting anybody.

seokii 3,424
It's both. Kpop is shifting over time to follow new trends, capture new audiences. And your tastes are changing as you grow older. It's super normal and it's happening to me too There's nothing I *dislike* about new kpop, I'm just not into it like I used to be. Part of it is that I've been a fan for 10 years. I've seen a lot of disbandments, I've seen a lot of groups get shelved, I've seen a lot of scandals. It's hard for me to feel too attached to one group or one idol anymore because you never know when something will change. Like, just as an example, my SNSD bias for years was Jessica. You know how that ended up.
