Exid and Gfriend has always been criticized for having the same song formula. After Exid decided to try differents concepts and sounds their korean public recogniticon started to fade away but the international fans interest become bigger. Gfriend gave us THREE different concepts this year but sadly crossroads and apple are their worst charting songs ever, their korean public recogniticon started to fade but again the internaitonal fans started to notice them incredible more, the difference is that gfriend has a stablished korean fandom meanwhile exid didnt have many of them. Do you think their carrers will have the same path?

what do you mean by their careers having the same path? like, each release after the other will do worse and worse, and then eventual disbandment?

tbh, i think they've peaked with the general public with time for the moon night, which isn't bad since a lot of groups who have debuted in the same year as them have peaked as well. but with that being said, it's smart of their company to focus on creating a loyal fanbase, both domestically and internationally. even though their sound doesn't cater to the international audience like everglow and itzy, it's really nice to see them increase their sales year by year. with that being said, disbandment will happen to every group (sans sm because they love using that indefinite hiatus stunt), but i can see gfriend disbanding on good terms, kind of like sistar and everything. even though i hope for them to pull an apink. and who knows. maybe they will pull an apink and finally find a song that will stick with the public! hoping that it's this comeback since apple was severely overlooked (my song of the year so far tbh)

the next upcoming years, we'll probably see less of them as a group unfortunately, but i'd really like to see more members have more guest work in variety shows and of course, more osts and collabs! it's astonishing that the hardest source music has pushed yerin as the variety star of the group was during their debut year lol (or what felt like it, i haven't been keeping up)

gfriend is transitioning from cute to mature. it's taking time for some people to adjust.

personally i really enjoyed apple, and looking forward to the gfriend next comeback

IA, that it's more like Apink and like what Twice did a little while ago with "Fancy".

agree.

plus twice have their big fandom to rely on too.

even if gfriend is perhaps pass their peak with the general public, hopefully they can still strengthen and grow their fandom. if it wasn't for covid they probably would of been touring. they were starting the gain momentum fast in japan. groups can survive a long time with their fandom support alone.

agreed. it took a while for people to adjust with apink's mature concept but hey it's going well for them both internationally and domestically. hope gfriend will be the same.

as for exid it's kinda sad. i loved their new direction/sound. night rather than day was awesome but charted poorly. then they came back with ddd (which had the same formula as their previous songs) and ended up charting really well. and then they switched it up again the next releases and they did not do that great.

gfriend started t lose their appeal with Fingertip

then they were back to the same concept they started with (love Whisper)

it's not like it did that well as far as I remember

Love whisper and Time for the moon night are national hits on korea. They almost got an All Kill what are you talking about?

really? I remember how sad I was for LS to not do that well

i'm aware of the success of  Time for the moon night but I brought LS as an example of the same concept not doing exceptionally well

If you're talking about trajectory with the GP maybe but their concepts are completely different.

Also yeah, they've peaked with the Korean GP already but at least they have a very solid fanbase both korean and lately international too so at least in that aspect they're much better than EXID. I always say that at the end a loyal fandom is more important than relying in the public only. At least with a solid fandom you'll always sell well and can have tours and concerts.

There's no need for longer explanation than this.

Also, chart isn't the only point if you're talking about success. It's pretty much subjective.

Personally, seeing them grow, doing their best for their career and start involving seriously in their music, that's already a success and not to mention the fanbase is pretty established. We'll see how much further can they grow relevant in this kpop timeline.
