do you think kingdom will ever happen?

now that kingdom has been indefinitely postponed (not that the boyz really need it given their recent success), with the possibility of airing sometime in 2021...do you think it'll actually happen?  who would you want to go?

sorta wondering if a unit of nct would be interested now that SM has seemingly patched things up with MNET...

I don't think so, I think hype would be long dead T^T

I would love svt to join purely for my selfish desire to get weekly new performances lol

they’d need to pull some big acts to build hype again, maybe seventeen should be charitable and join 🙏

i think it will happen spacer.png and idk many boy groups so idk who i would like to see there

and about nct, i feel like these kind of shows aren't sm's style. And sm has the resources to get the show's prize without having to compete so...spacer.png

well you have a point about SM 🤧 if anything it would be just for GP visibility but like you said...not their style

maybe they should just do queendom season 2...for gfriend-related purposes...

Yes svt definitely be very charitable o.o invite Mx too, so you guys won't get lonely O.O

I don't even mind if members join as solo T^T that would be more meaningful to join too, right? Like having only Woozi on the show, would help him create public impression as only artist rather than member

Oh

I think I found a reason for svt to join if they do o.o

I thought one reason it was postponed was getting groups and their companies to agree to it. Some maybe didn’t have the time and some felt they were too big for it. The thing is, every group from the show has benefitted immensely from it, so I think more will be willing to go.

But I’d be happy for Queendom 2 first if Gfriend goes on it.

i think it will just needs the perfect timing getting all the groups together. pretty sure a lot of groups would wanna join it seeing how groups that joined queendom literally became so successful and had viral performances.

That would be like a perfect line up for the show (though EXID may be hard, I could see a group like Nature or LunarSolar to round off the new groups).

I think if Kingdom is ever gonna happen, it will be next year.
As to why Kingdom was postponed/cancelled, it seems that netizens were criticizing the rumored Kingdom casting lineup

Quote

One issue Mnet is facing in their 'Kingdom' casting process is the ongoing criticism revolving around rookie boy group TOO, who appeared on 'Road To Kingdom' despite their lack of experience compared to the other competitors.

Similarly, current rumors surrounding the casting lineup of 'Kingdom' state that CJ ENM is prioritizing groups which received funding from their past relationships (a.k.a on past audition shows) or past financial investments.

According to one entertainment insider, "One day, the discussions around 'Kingdom' just suddenly stopped happening. It seems like they came to the conclusion that it will be difficult within the year."  [x]

I see it possible if it's mixed with 2nd gen groups and early 3rd gen groups (Highlight, Teen Top, Infinite minus Woohyun & L, BTOB) competing with The Boyz and maybe rising younger names. But if negotiations are still complicated for 2021 it will be better RTQ and Queendom 2.

The results of RTK weren't really visible at first so perhaps groups (and/or company) weren't as tempted to join, and due to it, weren't able to cast enough groups to make it happen. Even tho it might have looked lackluster at first, no one can deny how great this show did for everyone joining in the end. So I think this could very well happen in 2021 after all. It will also depends of the lineup to be successful, so the show's previous hype doesn't particularly play a role here in my opinion.

Who knows...

I don't feel like it will tbh, but you never know. And I really, really, really want it to - the rtk perfs were amazing.

And anyone who watched RTK knows that every single group poured everything they had into the show, they were basically having emotional breakdowns week after week because they wanted to win so bad. The Boyz deserve what they were promised.

But honestly, having the Boyz on with really big groups that were rumoured such as NCT or SVT, its like giving free buffet to your enemy

I think that's why companies are hesitant. If they succeed another group succeed and have their popularity, if they fail, their image will drop and again, another group will gain from it

There is literally no win for very popular groups, unless we are only going to invite 2nd gen

Maybe next year? But I think they'll do road to queendom or just queendom again before kingdom.

I'd like to see Astro, SF9, ateez, stray kids and maybe TxT. NCT...I personally feel they're too big already to need the kingdom boost.

EXID is not basically disbanded/inactive as a group? I read something like that

Idt Pledis/SVT are hesitant because they're afraid to lose.
SVT members have been in shows where they lost to other idols/artists like Masked Singer before.
Pledis artists and trainees have also been in Produce where some won (Kyulkyung, Nayoung, and Minhyun) while majority lost.
If there's anything that they should be worried abt it's prolly Mnet's evil editing like what happened to Dongho during Produce S2.
edit: idek why you got negged for your post tho asdfghhh

oh i didnt said that for svt, believe me, if anything it would be too easy of a win for them lol

Tbh its another thing to fail yourself, but entirely another thing to fail and give free ad to other group who won

When svt lost in masked singer etc, it was a competition between seniors and artists, and fandoms did not matter, with kingdom its entirely different point

For the neg... I guess someone didnt liked me saying free buffet lol

I don't see that way at all. Did anyone even bash\laugh of the other groups on RTK after they lost some rounds? The closest to being bashed was Pentagon and even then I saw more comments praising their vocals. They ended up getting more fans in the end, just like every other groups, they all gained from this. Yeah sure, some groups are gonna gain more traction then others in this show, but it is really a lost for the other groups? Not really. It just give insane new performances for fans and non-fan to recommend all-alike. Yes the group that join might not have the best performances in the show if they do, but they still gonna be high quality regardless. The only way I can see a group getting failed if they join, is if they make a very disrespectful performance... and I like to think that in 2020 they know better but hey. If Kingdom is the same format as Queendom, the competitive side won't be as important anyway, and it's more about the experience there.

Also you shouldn't underestimate The Boyz capabilities. They are able to hold their end with bigger groups. They'll do fine regardless of the rest of the lineup.

But looking at the 7 groups of rtk their sales charting and even publicity all increased incredibly what kind of drop image you are referring to?

also unlike rtk kingdom is more about performing than actual winning since there’s no elimination or actually prize for it and there’s no doubt the boyz is one of the top perfomring groups in kpop

the fandom voting percentage in RTK  is smaller compared to fandom voting in Produce and other survival shows tho.
Like in Round 3, voting is 70%  fandom 30% participants and only 20 fans from each fandom gets to vote online.
sidenote: someone in reddit suggested that the Kingdom groups should shoot out of a cannon in Kingdom to top the performances in RTK.
And I was like psssh Seventeen launched Seungcheol and his car into the atmosphere, easy peasy  :datass:

Drop image is incase they do bad o.o also the ones that joined RTK have considerably smaller fandoms than rumoured, therefore even smallest fandom increase is obvious

For example, NCT is already million seller, how much more can they grow from a variety show o.o that's what I meant T^T that's why it's inefficient for them to join, their growth percentage would be much lower than already existing fandom they have. (Such as A having 10 fans B having 100 fans. If A earns 10 it will seem huge, but if B earns 10 it will appear miniscule)

I still hope kingdom happens tho, I love watching performances and so many rumoured joiners were amazing in performance case

Oh I didn't knew fandom voting was that detailed, I wonder if any fans of other groups entered into voting like some people do in ISAC
