Labeling idols as transgender because of their features & to fit your ideals (?) [RANT]

Recently, they have been seeing someย  BS with Hyunjin & people labeling him transgender because of his long hair. I find that to be rude but there are some STAYs that don't.

I know as kpop fans we normally get that our faves "look like girls", etc. I'm sure it's something that doesn't bother us really. But calling them transgender, it bit too far. I don't have anything against transgender, but it's very impolite to misgender a person (WHOSE GENDER WE OBVIOUSLY KNOW). I think that this very harmful to any kpop star considering that such LGBT topic is taboo in Korea.

I kinda piss me off when people were saying these things. I know we discuss idols' sexualityย but going as far as misgendering & calling them transgender just to fit your narrative isn't right.

I know there is not all of people do are doing this. But here's a few examples:

ย

I like the way he word it!

Anyway that's my rant! โœŒ

I feel like I didn't word or spell somethings right but Idk how/what to correct so ignore it.

I really hate people like that who are like "well if you get offended at the term "trans", you're a bigot!!"

Like BRUH, being trans is not just some term you can just throw on someone. Transgenderism is not just some word to mean "feminine male" or "masculine female". These people are either stupid, insanely ignorant, or trolling. What they're saying makes noย actual sense. They cannot possibly know what it actually means to be transgender.

for starters, labeling him as trans just because of his long hair is ridiculous.

plus like most male idols who do the long hair thing eventually he'll cut it. so then what?

ย

Getting even weirder, there are people referring to him as "she/they". ๐Ÿคจ

When we thought internashunal platform would be different with local Asia ones. Then again the people are the same so idk what I expect.

In their mind, long haired men = short haired women = transgenders. Especially if they have feminine/masculine features. These "ADD YOUR PRONOUN IN YOUR BIO" folks ignore "this is my pronoun" from celebs. Theres nothing called personal preferable style, comfortability, and the freedom to do whatever they want to their own body.ย

I simply call them hater tbh. Idgaf if they disagree.

I assume hyunjin isn't their fave because it reminds me when "f(x) fans" didnt disagree with people calling Amber 'manber.' "She should look like one if she wants to be called woman," they had said.

ย

And you'd find these human specimens everywhere. Not long ago in YouTube I encountered someone who refused to call my other fave 'she' just because her style is androgynous. Bullshitting "china isn't very progressive with this kind of matter I simply want to respect them by calling them a she!" when she publicly @ fans (and even her company) if they misgendered her even if joking way.ย

I have seen this before but never seen it that way as "headcanon" their sexuality or gender. Really realizing how fked it is phrased that way. Before im just like .. huh that's weird.ย

Im a lesb and struggled with my gender identity as kid bc of it.. and i have short hair now,ย  for last few yrs - and since few months ago even shorter...ive started shaving the sides and bavk. And i know some ppl judge me ab it. Hell my own family does ever since my hair got shorter than my shoulders (cuz i progressively cut it shorter over time;ย  not just chop it off one day hhh) bc they think it makes me look like boy. Some ppl might think im a guy or trans which is...ok whatever but im not.ย  And i don't want to b seen that way cuz im not?ย

And honestly?ย  Im serving.ย  Id like to try growing it out too but its a pain so i usually give up. Also long hair is so boring for me. Mine lookwd same everyday either flat or tied up. But my hair now idk but like there's so much to do with it for me.ย  Even without trying my hair looks diff everyday honestly idgi but its a fun surprise everytime i look in mirror

Ab this tho yea.. it is really weird to headcanon celebs gender or sexuality. Like they can be "comfort people" without theorizing or hc their queerness. Bc when i think of idols that ig would b my comfort idols, it has nothing to do with thinking they could also be queer, its just they make me happy so idg that

I understand you feelings, Jeonghan went through the same thing and honestly he cut his hair not because he was bored of it, but because fans would intentionally misidentify, mislabel or misgender him alot, even when he said he is very uncomfortable with it.

Its something hard to warn people with, because you expect people to know how uncomfortable this is. I hope Hyunjin doesnt let it bother himself, I would hate to see long hair becoming some type of trauma for him too.ย

These are the same people who called Jo Kwon trans for literally just saying he wanted to wear whatever clothes he wanted, what are we expecting?

A lot of people were doing this with one of the Victon members when he was sporting this look and it was super weird and uncomfortable.ย Then again itโ€™s stanย twitter where a good chunkย of them have the brain of an amoeba so...

A whole generation of GNC (gay) youth being fed this toxic, backwards, homophobic/misogynistic trans ideology, I am truly sorry for all of them having to endure this.

One day they all said '' women and men can dressย however they want and still be women and men '' in unison butย now we've come back to '' wearing x or y makes you a man or a woman!!!! TRANS KING/QUEEN!!! ''

Wtf.ย

Honestly I can't help but feel like a lot of the people who do this are frankly too young or inexperienced to grasp why this is an inappropriate thing to do

I think it's great that communities on the net are so trans and LGBTQIA friendly, but I think they get almost obsessed with trying to not appear transphobic, queerphobic etc to the point that they're blind to the fact that this is, in fact..... *drumroll* misgendering.

They use the "you're being transphobic" defense to shield themselves from any criticism that the shit they're doing is bizarre and inappropriate. It's immature. All I can hope is that these people grow up and realize it tbh

I don't know why these people can't just latch onto androgynous aesthetic representation as a cool and fun thing to appreciate instead of stuffing it all into the "they're trans!" box. The more I think about it, the more backwards it is.
