The Culture and Arts Industry Development Law carried last year, December 31, at the National Assembly plenary session will be effective starting July 29, 2014.

With the new law that is passed, child actors Kim Sae Ron, Kim Yoo Jung, and others will be given consideration and will experience an improvement in their working environment.

According to the law, child actors under the age of 15 can only render 35 hours of work in a week and should observe proper working hours which prohibits them from taking on projects from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. in the morning the following day.

Young actors aged 15 and above will be allowed to work not exceeding 40 hours in one week and likewise, should observe proper working hours as well. This means they, too, will not be allowed to work from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. However, if the actor has parental consent, he may extend his work hours for a couple of hours.

Then producers will just not cast any child actors without the parental consent. Shitty work conditions in Korea will never change because there is no one who isn't corrupt and has enough leadership to make the change. Dramas will continue live recording and they won't wait on any kids under this law.

35 hours in a week is an improvement? I would throw parents in jail who let their children work more than 10h/week. child labor is apparently ok if it's showbiz.

However, if the actor has parental consent, he may extend his work hours for a couple of hours.

They should pass a new law granting authorities the right to take these children away from their crazy ass greedy parents.

Tiger parent- Okay

PD- (few more hours is up too) we still need her.

-and that will continue.

Parents will still feel pressured to consent and also not every parent have their child's best interest at heart.

Take away parent consent!  :>_>:

Any parent who willingly puts up their child for more than 35-40 hours a week is mental. That's 7-8 hour workdays 5x a week, it's ridiculous in itself and plenty for a child actor. You're overworking them.

And directors and producers can take advantage of that loophole and only give roles to specific child actors whose parents will be pushed into consenting for long hour workdays.

It's blackmail in on itself.

This is just a smoke screen to make it look like something is being done when it isn't. Like has already been said. Parents who are only thinking of the money or having a famous child are going to agree to most anything to achieve that and not care what the child wants. Take away parents consent and make the law unarguable.  Only then might it work
