I just remebered the news going on about this movie

i watched the trailer when the mess started, disliked it and forgot about it. not that I care about movies for the time being

anyway, it just crossed my mind and googled whether it was cancelled or not . i saw that. it got 2.8/10 on IMDb and I was like :omgwtf: wtf  it wasn't cancelled?

I just watched this video

just hearing the descriptions about the movie makes want to throw up

wtf Neflix? Delete that shit already!

not only it is about sexualizing children, it also depicts muslim wearing hijab as "oppressive" and needs to remove it to be "free". as a muslim myself i'm so offended. netflix is sick for keeping it

Worst is, didn't netflix also had a drama about exact same thing? Like a Muslim woman removes her hijab and suddenly she is seen as extremely attractive with bunch of white guys around her

Netflix LOVES seeing Hijab as a type of oppression rather than what it actually is - a choice. Cuties movie has more problems than religious problems, but honestly movie as a whole shouldn't exist, at all.

Oh everyone is bashing him, I have not seen anyone else that brave to be public about being a pedo

Considering YT kept a cat killer up on there for about 3 years until finally removing him, I'm not surprised that they think this pedo is pretty good to keep up on there

netflix i think just bought the film after it got good reception at sundance so ig if they think might as well keep it on tp make that worth it? Idk. I did watch it and any 'message' against sexuslizing children is supposrd to habe it is not like clear ot at least, loud enough to be worth the heaps of bad press it got the movie/ netflix. Ig im saying idt its as bad as most ppl do but its not even worth watching ngl . I went into it thinking ab it like a contrarian but i did habe tp ffw thru some scenes bc i thought its gross. They could of easily went without some gross scenes bc it didn't advamce plot at all 😐Ab the Muslims part tho, im not muslim so i wouldn't say there's nothing to be offended of, but the way i interpreted it its not that its oppressive maybe im just stupid but i connected most or her rejection to that,,,as just rejection to her father taking a 2nd wife bc its hurting her mom.  But idk maybe there's something idg bc im dumb or lost in translation

i didnt think it was that bad. i think criticism of its content is valid but to the extent of removing it from the platform? eh. you have shows like dance moms, bring it, toddlers and tiaras, these shows exploit children in a similar way, and it's not even for the sake of societal commentary, but just pure exploitation. these are the industries the film attempts to criticize.

I don't know that I ever saw young girls hump the floor, spread their legs, and grab their crotches while the camera zoomed in on them in Dance Mom's, and that's what they were doing in Cuties. No doubt that the film meant to criticize that, but it makes about as much sense as making a film criticizing animal cruelty and really abusing the dog in the making of it.

i disagree with that analogy but that's an understandable position. its not black and white for me, but i tend to agree that the film goes further than it needs to, they should've used adult actors. that being yes, those shows like Dance Moms do not overtly sexualize children but it is not supposed to be overt. this performance below is absolutely inappropriate for young girls, and this stuff is very normalized in the dance scene, it's not even the worst that i've seen

so i understand the criticism behind cuties but i'm disappointed that the message behind it is being overshadowed by the controversy. it is just showing us a reality that already exists. i remember being in middle school, high school, and having peers that mirrored some of the behaviors shown in Cuties. i wish it was film differently. i mostly just worry about those kids, how they will feel in the future, rather than the actual content itself.

I would agree that that clip is inappropriate, but it's not in the same league as what happened in Cuties. The analogy is appropriate because it's supposed to criticize the sexualization of children by overly sexualizing children.

EDIT: Removed the link. You can find it on YouTube.

In no world is this okay, even if the message were intended to be good.

A disgusting scene that should never have been filmed. I only posted it to emphasize that Dance Moms and Cuties aren't even in the same league in terms of inappropriateness, but I'll go ahead and remove the link because it is sickening.
