Regarding JYJ’s undecided offer to perform on the main stage of the “2014 Incheon Asian Games,†which they have been ambassadors of for a year, C-JeS Entertainment spoke up on Tuesday, July 1st to explain their current position.

The “2014 Incheon Asian Games†is a yearly game event that always includes a musical concert as a celebration. This year, artists such as PSY, CNBLUE, Big Bang, and EXO have been invited to perform. JYJ was also invited to perform before the opening ceremony, as well as stick around until the end of the ceremony along with the other artists. There has been a small hype arising from the fact that a group from JYJ’s previous agency SM Entertainment will be standing on the same stage as those who left after filing a lawsuit. Though Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong already were placed to perform before the opening ceremony, the situation seems to have gotten worse with the mention of EXO as well. Or perhaps unknown company dilemmas had taken place, in which it was suddenly deemed unsuitable to have JYJ perform live.

By now, it is not clear what is the exact reason that JYJ’s invitation to perform has suddenly been pushed back, as well as undecided, especially considering they had been ambassadors for the event since February 2013. Having been chosen as ambassadors following the “Incheon Asian Games’’ 17th event, they had dutifully followed through all the promotional events required of them, and contributed much towards media advertisement.

C-JeS Entertainment had spoken through press releases about the issue, stating, “Having met with the organizing committee of the ‘Incheon Asian Games,’ as well as their ambassadors and representatives of both public and media relations, it had been promised that JYJ would be guaranteed a finale performance in the closing ceremony.â€

Referring to JYJ’s role in promoting this exact event, their agency went on to say that previously secured positions during the opening ceremony, as well as the press conferences of both open and closing ceremonies, were set for JYJ. Having been promised through a few meetings with the event’s organizers, the group’s schedule had been adjusted for the event as well. Once the full line-up of celebrities had been revealed, JYJ was not mentioned, nor were they guaranteed as the organizing committee had once told representatives of C-JeS Entertainment. Rather, they were still undecided in their role to perform, as well as join the press conferences of the event.

In response, the official director of the event spoke through a conference, stating, "There are various things to take account that we have not explained yet. It’s not that their performance wasn’t confirmed due to particular political reasons. What we can say for sure is simply that JYJ is in the official opening stage. However, there is a stage where musical stars will have a stage together. If Junsu participates in that stage, it will overlap with JYJ’s stage, so we are looking over that problem. We’re finalizing the details."

Unfortunately, this new information was in complete contrast to what had originally been promised to C-JeS Entertainment, as well as JYJ. During just a month’s time, the organizing committee had attempted to exclude their own ambassadors from the event, with reasons covered up through unsupported explanations.

This notion was deemed unacceptable by the agency, and they quickly released a full statement to make their stand on this issue.

Direct translation of statement from C-JeS:

“Last year on February 2013, JYJ had become the official ambassadors of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

The organizing committee of the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ had previously spoken, ‘In order to spread awareness and popularity of international promotions throughout Asia, the group JYJ has officially been chosen due to their name being known all across the continent,’ confirming their new roles through press conferences.

Since then, we had discussed together the activities that JYJ will carry out as official ambassadors. Having met with the organizing committee of the ‘Incheon Asian Games,’ as well as their ambassadors and representatives of both public and media relations, C-Jes Entertainment had created a service contract with the head of the committee. Parts of the content written included, ‘With any upcoming event regarding ‘Incheon Asian Games’ both in and out of the country, JYJ will have to previously agree beforehand,’ as well as ‘JYJ shall be considered first when deciding which other K-Pop celebrities will be invited to any event.’ During that time, it had also been promised that JYJ would have a secure spot in the finale of the ceremony.

Following these decisions, then, JYJ released their official theme song ‘Only One,’ as well as take time to film the music video. The three had additionally filmed a CF despite having no guarantees, and actively worked to promote the event with the best of their efforts. Furthermore, back in October in Vietnam and November in Hanoi and Guangzhou, China of last year, JYJ had participated and accomplished a successful showcase for the event to spread news about the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ internationally. JYJ had even planned to attend an overseas meeting event consisting of all the representatives of ‘Incheon Asian Games’ planned for that same month. However, due to the natural disaster that occurred in the Philippines, the event had been cancelled.

Through a meeting held with various organizers in June, it had also been confirmed that JYJ would be able to attend the opening ceremony of the ‘2014 Incheon Asian Games,’ as well as the press conference held during the opening and closing ceremonies. The schedules have been adjusted and decided upon by their side, with the secured promise that the group would be attending. However, since then we have received no information about the event at all, and were not informed about the contents of the press conference.

In a recent phone call with the head organizer of the event, we had been informed that the line-up was not confirmed as of late. Yet, during the press conference today, as the ambassadors, JYJ, had not been informed of the content of the event, we were all surprised to hear that they released a press called ‘Celebrity Line-up to Actively Participate in the ‘2014 Incheon Asian Games’’ opening and closing ceremonies.’ And while being uninformed of the press release, JYJ had also been simply regarded as being checked over regarding their appearance in the first place.

The organizing committee of the ‘2014 Incheon Asian Games’ had once promised us the final stage. They had promised to consider their ambassadors above all else when regarding which other Korean celebrity will participate in the event. Previously, the committee had told us that JYJ and PSY would stand on the same stage. In turn, we responded that since PSY was a respectable sunbae in the industry and was a singer deeply acknowledged in Korea, it would be an honor for us to stand on the same stage with him.

The ‘Incheon Asian Games’ must fulfill their promise that they’ve made to C-JeS Entertainment and JYJ. As the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ have been founded for the service of the public, such things as ‘loyalty’ and ‘trust’ should be kept diligently. Amongst up to 4 billion Asians living in the continent, there will not be anyone who could logically understand that JYJ, who had been promoted as the face of the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ for one year, will not be mentioned or appear in the press conferences.

If the organizing committee attempts to shift the blame towards those who have chosen JYJ as the ambassadors, or responds that the minimal participation given to JYJ is still keeping the promise made to C-JeS, you are trying to cover the sky with your hands. Anyone with common sense and logic will be unable to accept that the singer who has promoted the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ for over a year and even sang the theme song will only appear in the pre-ceremony event.

As you know, two years ago in 2011, JYJ was the ambassador of the New Seven Wonders for Jeju Island. [However] For some reason, although we had bought the flight tickets and received the cue sheet prior to the event, we were told their appearance was cancelled a day before JYJ was due to appear. After filing a suit with the Fair Trade Commission, it was confirmed that the cancellation was an unfair case that had resulted from outside pressure, and the Fair Trade Commission was ordered to not obscure JYJ’s future activities any longer on purpose.

We remember the first conference that we had with the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ Organizing Committee, held in May 2013. C-JeS had informed the reps involved that JYJ faced difficult times due to an outside pressure that we currently could not identify, and that the agency was not looking forward to the same thing happening again for the group. We told them that if this happened again, JYJ, as well as their global fans would be hurt, so if they will not keep their promises until the end, we will not participate. The working members of the organizing committee had related deeply with the difficulties JYJ had undergone in regards to cancelled promotions, and confirmed that it would definitely not happen at this event.

In any case, as we hope that the organizing committee’s broken promise was not due to the same unfair, senseless outside pressure that had associated itself with JYJ, we ask many people to take heed to this unfair and unexplained situation.â€

What do you think about C-JeS’s response to the ‘Incheon Asian Games’ organization committee’s break in trust? What could you identify as the unknowable outside pressure that is adeptly blocking potential activities for JYJ, even after their lawsuit with SM Entertainment has been finished?

I mean are people really comparing 3 people deciding to leave a boy band to SM's systemic and probably extralegal attempt to destroy their careers for all time due to butthurt?

I mean I get stanning a group, but stanning a company is a kind of weird I'm not comfortable with yall.

Edit: lol here they come

LOL. Irony, now they know how Homin and SM staff felt 5 years ago.

what? There were already rumours circulating within and out the fandom about the members breaking off SM before it actually happened. That's funny if fans/outsiders knew more than whoever was involved

There are always those rumours about every SM and big group tbh. Tiffany has been intending to go solo and move back to LA for about 2 years now apparently.
