if you could be fluent in a language, which would you choose?

i would probably choose either spanish (which i studied back in high school but didn’t continue with) or korean for the convenience of watching shows/listening to music without subs ^^

it largely depends on your school district; there's no federal mandate for when schools have to teach certain things or whether they have to teach it at all.  that usually comes down to the state's choice or even the district itself.  i know some schools that start in 7th grade (around 12 to 13 years old) but my own school didn't offer foreign language courses until 9th grade (14 to 15 years old).

also for most schools there's only a 2 year-ish requirement and then you're free to go.  i studied spanish for four years because i liked it but the class size definitely decreased a LOT by year 3 and especially year 4.
