Despite PRISTIN disbanding over a year ago, social media has recently been abuzz with numerous rumors surrounding the members—especially Kyla, the group’s Korean-American former lead rapper and maknae. On August 13, the former idol took to Twitter to address all the speculation surrounding PRISTIN dating rumors, why she left the group, and more.

According to Kyla’s statement, fake accounts have been set up on social media in her name, impersonating her with fake screenshots. After taking a step back from Twitter to assess the situation, she says she returned to Twitter to set the record straight.

While I know that regardless of what I say there will still be those who are upset at me, I hope that you do not believe everything that you see on the internet.

— Kyla

First and foremost, Kyla stated that all the dating rumors currently surrounding PRISTIN are false. Twitter had previously been abuzz with rumors that Kyulkyung had dated labelmate SEVETEEN‘s Woozi, and that Eunwoo (now of HINAPIA) dated The Boyz‘s Ju Haknyeon.

I have never stated that certain idols are dating

— Kyla

Kyla went on to say that she also didn’t date anyone while she was signed under Pledis Entertainment. Fans had long speculated about the possibility of a secret relationship after Kyla’s sister, Karisa, once took to live broadcast to imply that Kyla and SEVENTEEN’s Vernon were an item. According to Kyla, her sister’s comments were all “jokes“.

After clearing up dating rumors, Kyla went on to explain the real reason why she left PRISTIN. While Kyla had always maintained that she took a hiatus and eventually left the group due to health concerns, the true nature of her health was never confirmed.

Now, Kyla has revealed that she left PRISTIN due to a head injury—specifically, a concussion. Back in October 2017, Pledis Entertainment issued a statement telling fans that 15-year-old Kyla had returned to the United States to receive medical treatment. According to her statement, Kyla’s doctor in the U.S. told her that continuing with promotions while injured would have lead to permanent brain damage.

While I was recovering, as many of you know, PRISTIN came to an end

— Kyla

Finally, Kyla addressed the speculation that she has transphobic beliefs. According to Kyla, the issue was a misunderstanding created by moderators on her Discord server.

I would like to state that I am pro-LGBTQ+… I take full responsibility for the moderator’s actions and sincerely apologize on their behalf as well.

— Kyla

In response to the “slander and malicious comments” surround her, Kyla says she will be leaving Twitter. While she doesn’t know if she will return, she hopes to connect with HIghs (PRISTIN fans) and Klassies (her individual fanbase) in the future.

I would like to clarify that I am not trying to be anyone other than myself. I am living comfortably and following my path in life one step at a time. Whether you choose to follow with me is completely up to you.

— Kyla

Geez, she was in a group that was doing mediocre (actually way worse than how much they were hyped up) and was active for even less than a year, and see how she and her dramatic brother used that group for attention. Imagine if she was in a top or more stable group, how much more attention was she going to seek?

Honestly, aside from how problematic she and her family is, I wouldn't have confidence to do all this bs if I was in her place. She was already the least liked member, remember fans skipping to cheer for her??? Already disliked and then there was the drama with her brother and later she herself appeared to be a female copy of him.

Also I love how she confidently says she wasn't planning to comeback. Even if you did, and even if Pristin didn't disband, do you think they would want you in there anymore? People used her age as an excuse, but so many younger idols managed their body way better. Actually barely, or never did I see an idol (male or female) in Kpop history to have so much lack of management about their body. I don't support unhealthy diets and starving but it was obvious she is not managing herself in a healthy way either. Yea like....

^They ain't be accepting you back when you look like this girl. No one in the whole industry gets a pass, why would you think you are special and different to get one?

It is an irony that the most unwanted member uses a former group the most for attention. All I mean is, don't act all confident about "you not choosing to go back"

God, the negativity coming from here is overwhelming. Are you okay? Is anyone bullying you? It's okay to seek help if you are being fat-shamed, no need to take it out on others. I can understand how tempting it is to put someone down when we see a reflection of ourselves in them, but that doesn't mean you should do it. I immagine your parents are probably not giving you much love, hence why you are seeking Internet validation. I would advise you to take a break and work on yourself, you seriously need it.

I get that you dislike her and all but 1hallyu dot com provides rant thread.  Your post has little to nothing to do with this issue.

You can dislike someone without bodyshaming them.

We'll have western pop 😂 no idols, just performers

most of this stuff is only news bc the industry is so secretive... but the industry is secretive bc the less you know about someone the easier it is to idolize them

I listened to the live of the people who exposed all this, it was quite something. They say that they were literally just teenage fans of Pristin, not people to be trusted with this information, that they never asked for any of it and that she (and her brother) would just randomly reveal things.

"On the first day we talked to her, I didn't even know her middle name but I knew Pinky's business." lmao

She sounds like she was super desperate to impress people. They also specified that she wasn't outing multiple idols, but that she did out one idol (they are not gonna say whom thankfully) and justified it by saying that everyone in the industry knew so it's okay. Keep in mind that this information is 3 years old so she was like 15 at the time. It's definitely all horribly trashy, but people are being a bit too hard on her, she was a kid.

As for the validity of the claims, they say that all this info would just randomly be dropped while they were talking on discord so no one could record it. They added that they don't feel sorry for exposing some of it cause some of those girls were not good people (mainly Eunwoo and Yaebin who bullied Kyla I believe). Someone did post a video of their DM exchange with Kyla where they asked about Woozi and Pinky and she confirmed that they were briefly a thing so I don't believe that these people are lying. Girl just had a big mouth, one of the reasons she never made it.

I have yet to see any concrete proof that Kyla was the one that shared the gossip with the initial anon sources 3 years ago. How convenient it is to say "Sorry I didn't get to screenshot the convo but you gotta just trust me on this". How convenient it is to just build on rumors upon another because it's entertaining for you and not the victims of the rumors. And then the one who got blamed is Kyla because she wasn't hiding behind anon accounts while the person who deliberately spread the initial unfounded rumors and the people that added their own rumors to the initial rumors can just easily deleted the tweets or started another anon accounts. Tomorrow or the days after the rumors spreaders and the enjoying crowds will move to another fun things they have while the victims are left behind to cure themselves (kinda like AOA Mina). Quite a pity if you are part of the crowds who didn't educate themselves on digital literacy and critical thinking. You'll get easily fooled by tricksters and depending on your country you can be legible for a lawsuit for spreading unfounded rumors and quite possibly hate/bullying (just like how you criticize some Knetz are doing).

She was apparently perfectly willing to clarify it for someone so there's that. And the issue isn't with screenshots, but rather that this information was shared suddenly through audio conversations on discord, but you're right in that there still isn't concrete evidence of this.

Honestly, nothing particularly out there was revealed. Some idols were dating, some were mean to a girl about her weight, some underage girl and her brother from the US were desperate for attention, nothing really out of the ordinary. They still could be lying, but if they wanted to spread fake rumors, why would they

1) use an irrelevant girl who left k-pop and Korea entirely

2) have most of them be about a group that is not particularly popular and most importantly,

3) present information that's a whole 3 years out of date?

If it means anything, these people went on a half an hour long live to clarify things so they lost a good chunk of their anonymity there, and they sounded pretty genuine to me. They said that they have no idea if the information is true or not, but that Luke and Kyla did tell them these things. I think they are pretty trashy themselves, but I don't think they are liars.

Spoiler

Well, I would probably not be as honest if I weighed close to her. I would basically go with all people who promote obesity. Imo ifans have this sort of hypocrisy where they call out idols for "being too skinny" and "starving" or even "anorexic" (which I don't approve of starving but to have a body like them, you could manage with a healthy diet as well) but then pointing out about someone being overweight is offensive.

If I seek validation, I won't be writing something which I was aware would get lots of negs. Yea I would actually do the sorta thing most fake people on the internet do. Fake-praising for getting upvotes and everything.

I put this in spoiler mainly because it may be considered off-topic to people, but I brought it because it was related in the first place. She was so full of herself and talking confidently as if she didn't need Pristin and she wasn't aiming to go back, more like, they didn't want her back

Some people here are more disgusting that anything Kyla has done. And we can't even know if she did these things, while users here are openly body shaming and hating on 15-years-old Kyla

It's so disturbing. Once you use bodyshaming to hate someone then your points are mute. You're just hating to hate.

Apparently she even outed an idol, she is just too disgusting if this is true.

She said she never did, and do you really believe that it was her and not someone else parading as her as she said in her tweet?

Isn't she 18 now though?
