BTS’s Stadium Tour Is Inspiring Korea To Build Bigger Venues

A new K-Pop arena will be built by 2024.

BTS is paving the way for change in their home country, thanks to their wildly successful stadium tour.

During BTS’s LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF world tour, the group sold out stadiums all over the world, including Seoul Olympic Stadium (capacity of 69,950), the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles (90,888), and Stade de France Stadium in Paris (80,698).

This has reportedly inspired South Korea to build more large arenas to accommodate the demand for K-Pop concerts. One of these venues will be located at K-Culture Valley, a theme park based on Korean pop culture that is currently being built in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

K-Culture Valley was announced back in 2016, but on August 11 Korean media outlets reported a third change to its business plans. In addition to a hotel, cultural activities, and shopping facilities, a K-Pop arena with a capacity of 42,000 will be built by 2024.

South Korea’s existing arenas, like Seoul Olympic Stadium and Gocheok Sky Stadium, can host K-Pop concerts, but they are mainly used for sports. K-Culture Valley’s arena, on the other hand, will be a performance hall specifically created for K-Pop.

like the article mentioned other big venues are more for sports - which don't accommodate the idols and fans as well.
