Victorian era anybody???

There's a lot to it, so here's a link that will explain it. It's part of British history when their empire was still very powerful. It ended in the early 20th century.

edit: It also gets its name from Queen Victoria who ruled during that time.

I'm not quite sure, but it may have something to do with the style and how people view the Victorian era in the present day.  It may also depend on what themes the creators were going for when creating them. I know a lot of gothic literature came out during this time period.

Basically, because of the monarchy in Britain there are different eras each time the monarch changes. Hence the Victorian era was during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). I've noticed that the Victorian era seems to be quite romanticised and glorified a lot of the time when in reality it was a time period where there was a lot of poverty and crime. Children were sent to workhouses and often died because of the dangerous conditions and they were also used as chimney sweeps etc too. Basically, it was a good time period for the high class, but not so much for everyone else.

The film. I haven't seen anime one. Pride and Prejudice came about before the Victorian era, but it does have some elements of it. I love that one as well. It's my favorite Jane Austen book. I love the tv series for it as well. Oliver Twist is not really considered a kid's book. It's labeled under young adult, but many schools have kids read it in middle school. That's when I read it. It was created during the Victorian era and it spoke about the problems that the poor and less well off faced during the Victorian Era.
