So apparently Hunan TV released the video of Selina and Yu Haoming's accident (a Selina definitely didn't give consent) because the show is finally airing after 3 years... the things people do for publicity 

 

Michelle Chen (the actress) is releasing her debut album which is a self-composed one apparently she released 3 mvs and managed to get Tony Yang and Joseph Chang <3

i read that she's going to be nominated for a Golden Melody award. I hope it's true because she needs more love.

 

Read that GEM is going to be nominated also. There's news that Jolin is nominated for 4 awards. They didn't give a source and i don't think the list is out yet so we'll see.

 

The list is out, I just haven't had time to really take a look or translate it, I think it's been out for like a week. They did a presscon and everything as usual. GEM got nominated for best female as did Jolin, Sandy Lam, Lala Hsu, JiaJia, and Ellen Loo. For male singers its Yoga Lin, Jay Chou, Jam Hsiao, Xiao Yu, and Khalil Fong. Definitely a good year for HK female singers, glad they are getting more nominations.

Yes i only found out about these because i was lurking the cantopop thread on asianfanatics and they were talking about it.

 

Yeah no one has a full translated version out, I wanted to do it but I'm busy today. I loved Lala's album so I'm happy for her. I'm kinda disappointed Deserts Chang didn't get a female singer nom, she got some others though. As for the men's side they're people I could've guessed. I'm surprised to not see William Wei and Yen-J but Xiao Yu instead... I thought the former two had stronger albums.

is Ai Yi Liang (or Eve Ai) nominated for newcomer, if that's even a category? She better be that album was really good. And i'm going to assume SingerSen is too cool for Golden Melody

 

Also i listened to the Penny Tai album today, it has some really good songs in there. Nice album.

 

In fact, she did, as for SingerSen (mainland (where I think she's technically from technically) rarely get included whether by choice or not. Also she probably didn't submit it, since it needs to be for judges to consider it. Random fact is the jury of judges changes every year.

oh i assumed it was open for all because of the HK people nominated. But i guess GEM, Ellen, and Khalil all do mandarin music and that's why.

 

I mean I'm pretty sure it is "open" to all. But first they have to actually submit their work and second it's really not a two way door. People from tw promote a ton in china but people from china rarely come to tw. It's starting to open up more though these recent years. I think the really popular Taiwan singer contest "One MIllion Star" helped a lot. A couple years ago instead of making it exclusively tw, they renamed it "mandarin One Million star" (rough translation) and so more chinese rookies entered the industry by signing to Taiwan labels and promote there. Like Huxia who got popular for the You're the Apple in My Eye ost. 

 

NaYing and Faye Wong have both won awards, but they are like the most popular names so...

Has anyone watched Butterfly Lovers (2008) before? I've just started watching the movie now

 

The one with Wu Zun and Charlene Choi cuz all I can say about it is that Wu Zun looked very pretty in that movie... haha. The movie itself, I didn't think much of.

Out of curiosity, do any Fan Bingbing fans here know what happened to her movie Yang Guifei, the one with Leehom as Li Bai and Oguri Shun?

 

The last I heard, they started filming but stopped cuz the Korean director who did, My Sassy Girl, left/was dropped and replaced by someone. On IMDB it says it's in post production and they finished filming but I don't think I've seen enough still for them to even be done. And I don't feel like searching though chinese websites haha..

the only thing i can find about it is that somebody named Tian Zhuangzhuang is now the director.

 

Ended up checking chinese sources. Yeah they apparently switched to that director and filming has been suspended. Apparently the screenplay for this is written by the same person who did Red Cliff. Was that any good?

Also just wanted to share this cuz it's super cute/amusing <3 It was trending on weibo yesterday.

 

 

 

 

For Deserts Chang's HK concert, she was playing Sodagreen's song and then Qingfeng surprised her by showing up on stage to sing since it's her birthday the next day. So he flew in without telling her. 

 

 I felt like translating it for fun so here goes, It's basically a Qingfeng monologue, I love how he just goes on and on haha

 

Qingfeng: I heard today I was the birthday present... I did anticipate that you will cry but I didn't think you'd cry to this extent... Alright then you just cry for a while... Actually I was here from the beginning, the whole time I was below the stage singing with you..and feeling very proud for you. You really have accomplished things that others can't accomplish. Even though I still don't really like English (lol) You guys all know that tomorrow is her birthday right? 

 

I think in some ways, Anpu (Deserts) birthday is more important than mine. After all, for my own birthday, I was only born once. But many many times when I was on the verge of falling apart, it was Anfu who helped me live again. So her birthday is very important.

 

I'll tell you that I prepared cat tissues. Are you trying to show how you looked like in (some mv cuz her makeup was messed up) 

 

Deserts: You guys don't look yet.

 

Qingfeng: You guys don't look, i'll help fix her makeup (turns dark) But even fixing makeup still needs a bit of lighting. (lights back on) You're fake eyelashes didn't fall don't worry.  No it's okay, isn't Faye Wang's makeup just like this. For someone who  smokes and drinks on stage, how can you be worried about ur eyeline (as in ruining her makeup lol Qingfeng...). I still have a whole pack of tissues here and they're even Hello Kitty. I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere but seeing her like I think I can't continue being sentimental/thankful.

 

D: This is a "concept?" concert but you turned it into a farce.

 

Q:But farce is just fulfilling a satisfactory part of our lives. Alright I'll get off the stage quickly, what I wanted to say was. Thank you for taking care of Deserts and Anpu is the most splendid and brilliant part of my life and all of my love is hers. You guys will never know, it's not just today, but everyday how much she tries her hardest. And you guys have the best eyesight/taste.  And you're the most irreplaceable. I love you.
