Why isn't anyone complaining about the "overdone" girl crush trend?

Idg why people keep pushing this narrative. Bgs are literally dragged all the time for doing "generic dark/cool guy concepts", especially in stan twitter, while girl crush is actually overpraised when both are the same thing.

Like other people have said, it's because girl crush is associated with women empowerment and "being a strong bad bitch" and western fans in particular are obsessed with that. Girl crush groups also tend to have a stronger, heavy EDM based sound and a lot of people prefer that type of sound to something more light hearted/poppy. They also tend to have lyrics about "being myself and not caring for people's opinion" (basically all ITZY's title tracks) and people associate that with empowerment too. You can see this preference with rookie groups. For example ITZY, Everglow or Secret Number have a load of fans, especially international, while groups with a more light hearted/fun concept like Cherry Bullet or even groups like a classy concept like Bvndit or Hinapia are more slept on.

Anyway, in the last 2 months or so there's been more soft/elegant/magical concepts than girl crush, like Twice's More&More, Izone's Secret Story of the Swan, WJSN's Butterfly, Gfriend's Apple, etc. DIA's comeback had soft/innocent aesthetic too iirc. I'd say the only ggs right now doing girl crush concepts consistently are Blackpink, Everglow and ITZY.

All in anyone in the West cares about are girl crush concepts, and the only reason non girl crush groups are getting noticed is because they're in the Big 3 like RV and TWICE

In general yes, but sometimes people like cute/bubbly concepts too as long the song is catchy. For example Weeekly is one of the most popular rookie ggs this year (probably the most popular along with Secret Number) and their debut concept was bubbly and fresh. So sometimes it depends on the music too.

I don't think it's only a few people tbh. I've seen many posts dragging bgs "generic dark concepts" with literally 10k likes, which it's an awful lot. Cravity and TOO for example were dragged to the hell and back for debuting with dark bad boy concepts this year (especially Cravity because people expected a cute concept), but ironically when they came back with cute/fresh concepts people didn't pay attention so...

Also, the people dragging cute ggs in general are mostly girl crush stans from what I've seen, not bg stans anyway.
