Why do people go around looking for "sympathy" with their bodies?

It's all about perception. What you perceive to be skinny and what someone else perceives as skinny might not be the same. Everyone has their own insecurities even if they have features that might be seen as desirable or ideal for other people. If someone calls themself 'too skinny' perhaps they really think that and would like to be curvier than they are.

TW: Eating disorders

Spoiler

As someone who struggles with an eating disorder myself, I have a warped perception of weight. In the past I got to the point where I wouldn't eat for days and my family would cry and beg me to eat because they were worried I would die. Even though my weight was dangerously low at that point in time my mind was so warped that I considered myself fat. Since then I've been working on recovery and I've learnt not to judge other people's weights because at the end of the day we all have our own troubles and insecurities to deal with. When people make comments about their own bodies don't compare them to yourself. They're talking about their own body and not yours so try not to draw comparisons where they aren't necessary. It's made me so much happier to just focus on myself without comparing myself to other people all the time. If people voice their insecurities to me, rather than judging them or questioning them I try to just be supportive and reassuring.
