But the way they act in interviews and answer the questions, especially their US interviews (morning show, Zach Sang show etc) was still very Korean. I think compared to say... Tiffany SNSD when she was interviewed by Zach Sang where she feels more American.

Tiffany is also free, so there's that

They are pretenders, just like any YG act.

the same can be said for any kpop act

no one will ever know who they are truly are, all kpop artists do their fair share of pretending

so I'm not sure why you think you did something by just saying yg artists

YG sells his groups as artist, while give them very little artistic freedom to do anything that goes to far away from the YG brand. Just like any regular idol.

Pretending to be artist.

haha this is true, to some extent.

Being a fan of both SNSD and Blackpink, there's always a different degree of candidness between the two groups. SNSD, even in their early days were always very candid in interviews and variety shows whereas Blackpink feels like they have always toe the company line in their answers, so to speak. Very careful and guarded in their answers. (This could also be because SNSD are variety queens and Blackpink rarely comes out of the YG dungeon)

And with Tiffany, even when she was with SNSD and was being interviewed in English, I feel like she was more Western and outspoken whereas Rose and Jennie still answers in a way Kpop idols are always careful with their answers. Rose and Jennie are also often looking at each other when answering difficult questions so as to not say the wrong thing.

YG artists do have more freedom than any other company

their names are on the songs they put out, except BP...the rest write and produce their own music, so yes they are artists
