I-land
They invested 20 billion won in this + Bighit and CJ's collaboration so the anticipation was high
right now, they're receiving criticism over how bad the stage editing + talents are

original post: here

1. Even though he's a criminal, I have to admit that Ahn Joonyoung had some devilish talents..

2. Everyone swore at Produce and ended up watching it.. The only thing that counts is what people will think of it eventually..

3. I feel like this program doesn't care about singing skills but is only about showing off dancing, it's overall pretty boring

4. Is it because I like survival shows that I actually enjoyed it?

5. I didn't watch the whole thing and only watched some of the stages, but it looks way better than all of the other survival shows we had so far. First of all the dancing was good. I didn't see all of the singing stages so I can't comment on it. It's still the start so of course it'll be a bit awkward and they will become more accustomed once they debut. I will refrain from judging their visuals

6. I thought that Produce was boring so just how boring this can get?

7. I feel like despite the negative reviews... They are still getting a lot of coverage and this is all that counts

8. I enjoyed it though?

9. I don't know if the responses were this bad ㅋㅋㅋ  but the responses were quite divided on Katalk too

10. I enjoyed it so much, what are you saying

[theqoo] STAGE OF THE BIGHIT TRAINEE WHO WAS #1 IN THE MONTH END RANKING ON I-LAND

I-land entry test Park Sunghoon & Jay 7th Sense
I-land entry test Lee Hwiseung's Boss (the #1)

original post: here

1. I feel like if he can do it alone, he'll be fine

2. they're starting with such a difficult songs from NCTㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

3. Sunghoonie??? Is that the figure skater Sunghoonie??

4. They already cut the stage way too much and with those slow motions I didn't even know where I should be looking... There was nothing to see

5. Just how much do you guys crave to bash others that you're bashing them for? To dance like this while singing live, and they're already better than some groups that exist out there

6. Wow the skills of the guys on this show are all average at best, but the biggest problem is that this guy was voted #1

7. If he was voted #1 with those skills, just how bad are the others..

8. The stage from the other 2 was more worth watching

9. There's nothing to see in this video though? Maybe because I've watched so many audition programs nowadays, this one really doesn't strike as anything exceptionalㅠㅠ;

10. Wowㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ  they seriously already have so many antis.. Look at all the comments dragging him

The stage editing is pretty candid though, those are their live vocals which aren't bad with everything considered

I think they made a mistake with the whole dystopian vibe of the set though tbh, it brings the mood down a bit. They should've constructed it to feel a bit brighter or more welcoming or something, idk

Filming and editing were shit. But the concept is different so its interesting

Most of the trainees had poor song choices as well, didnt help their cause 😐

seems like it's just some knetz on pann being messy again. the usual. even some of replies are saying it's getting positive reviews in korea.

i-land was trending on twitter, melon and other korean platforms. so far the hype is really good. we'll see how it does going forward tho

they had to do something different. or it would of just been produce 2.0 and no one wants that.

personally i'm on the side that likes the set and vibe^^...we'll get more "brightness" in their dorms and studio area

I watched it and the show is far from boring. The concept is original and totally different from the usual survival show where the judges or the audience have to vote. Here the contestants have to vote each other in or out and that alone makes the premise different. Also, people watched it anyway because according to this it had even better ratings than the pilot episodes of produce.

Also, the trainees overall were pretty talented. The kids that did crown were awesome and the ones that covered the 7th sense did pretty good as well. There's a lot of raw talent in general.

The way I enjoyed the first ep of I-Land more than any first ep of the Produce series lmao... it was more interesting

I think that the entrances at the start of each Produce season were iconic, but with the number of trainees the initial performances really dragged and the editing had to favor some people over others. With 23 trainees they can give everyone about the same amount of screentime.

I agree but even then you can still tell who are the show's favorites though. A couple of trainees were clearly evil edited, like Seon (that curiously, was a contestant in produce S2 under Yuehua).

Personally I always found that part boring about Produce and I liked this a bit better, though I can see why some may like the format that Produce followed the first 1-2 eps more ofc. I agree about the second part too, even though the pd of the show might have some favorites, every trainee will at least get some screentime this way, which I appreciate lol

umm..no pd was cringey af with one reaction being shown 3 times and only like 5/101 trainees in focus.  Probably the most boring show I had ever seen.

Omg I still remember when they repeated Gyuri's voice crack in peek-a-boo performance like 5 times, no exaggerating lmao.

I didnt watch the episode but checked out videos shared on twitter o.o i barely know trainees so far but showing them constantly separately with too much reaction and too much slow motion stuff bores me not gonna lie, i wish they can cut those down a bit, i know they want to create wow affect but here i am looking like -_- instead

lmao this is one of the worst part of produce, the repeating of scene until the climax is gone.

But most korean shows do this and it's annoying. I hope this show wont do that much lol.

So far the editing is pretty good. The first episode wasn't that long and already covered quite a lot of events, so they didn't have time to drag things out. For example when the performances start and the trainees are told to choose the order by themselves, we're only shown once that the first to go between the ones who volunteered was decided through a rock, paper, scissors game, but after that they don't show anything again on how they decided the performance order.

Overall I think they won't need to overly dramatize the editing at any point, because of how the show itself is set up (trainees vote for/against each other, and instructions are given through speakers and screens rather than people, so they won't have any authority figure to turn to in order to resolve conflict), drama is going to erupt naturally, and there's always going to be a camera to record it.

Also the exaggerated Produce-style edits wouldn't work with the dark futuristic atmosphere they want to give to the show.

If some of you want to watch the first episode in good quality, it's up on Viki !

In fact there was already drama in the first episode when Niki was shown voting against Taki when previously they had been shown as friends that wanted to debut together. People were so shocked at the "betrayal" that the 2 of them even trended globally lmao.

This show is much more vicious and dark than any produce show but that makes it oddly "refreshing" imo.
