I don't think you should've slapped her
The guy telling you you should've is completely wrong, I don't even believe parents should slap their kids so a stranger doing that is even worse
The girl was being rude for sure but she's just a child and she might've not realized how impolite her questioning was, sometimes kids can be really curious and they don't realize that there are things that can be asked or not
Either way the right action imo is either to just tell her it isn't right or tell her parents
but you handled it well so good job

I hope this guy you talked to either never has kids or changes his way of thinking
