i loved the produce seasons i watched (2&3) and without it i wouldn’t know some of my faves...i think i’d only want a reboot if there was some way to deter cheating or rigged votes (which idk if there is) and if they could be guaranteed decent management during their contract (which has been a problem with groups like 1the9 and nine percent)

Personally, I don't think it's ever coming back because the show's reputation has been really damaged and majority of people probably won't trust mnet anymore even if they said they were gonna be 100% fair and transparent. But if it had to comeback it'd be at least in 5 years. I don't see it coming back any time soon at all, plus mnet have other decently successful franchises now like queendom/RTK and maybe i-land soon so they'll focus on those by now.

I don't think it'll ever come back and it sucks tbh bc that's how a lot of people were able to be recognized.. if the produce series does come back though.. a lot of people would be scared!

Well, I thought Iz*one would never come back after the produce scandal and there they are. Huge as f***.

produce is never coming back but i'm sure they'll make a show with almost the exact same format under a different name in like 2 years time

It is a dead format.

The new Belief I-Land audition will be done as a long round survival audition, like JYP's Nizi project. Such will probably be the new type of auditions in the future.

Do you mean survivals where the contestants are all trainees from the same company, kinda like Sixteen, Stray Kids, Treasure Box or World Klass? Yeah, I think that kinda seems the trend lately instead of making a project group with trainees from different companies. Also that way, the companies don't even have to wait for the project group to disband.

Yes. Trainees from the same company, which will be selected over a period of time. That means even less chance for trainees from smaller companies.

Smaller companies can do their own survivals too. For example TOO was created through the survival "World Klass" and they're from nch (same company as nature). Momoland was created through a survival show too. Their survivals obviously aren't as watched as survivals from bigger companies but there's always people who watch them. TOO even before going to RTK had a decent fandom already.

I think they will be rebranded as Youth With You Korea thinking in my theory of alliance of Mnet and IQIYI (the YWY groups come to MAMA as chinese representatives and IZONE congratulated finalists of YWY)

A lot of survivals were created in kpop world but no one have the same impact of Produce style: the illusion of general public voting and paying for vote to get bias debut is a powerful concept

Hopefully never. But next year.

What happened is the pool of trainees has dried out. The Belief project was delayed for one year because they had trouble finding suitable candidates.

So it will not be easy to find people who would be at most playing bit parts in a pre-selected audition, and knowing the fate of those who didn't make it was quite brutal, they will not volunteer.

I think this is right.  There will be a new show exactly like P101 but it'll be called something different and have like.. 102 trainees or something lmao.  Even though the franchise is now baked in controversy, the groups that sprung from it were (and are) incredibly profitable.  If the public is willing to buy into it, knowing they're being scammed/manipulated, there's no reason not to continue with the format.  Just change the name to avoid most bad press and mnet/CJ is all set.

It wont return, but if it does return in some way it wont be called produce and the format will probably be different anyways (Looking at you Queendom)
