What are your thoughts on reaction videos?

Do you think they add nothing of value? and I'm not talking about like oh "vocal coach reacts" or "dermatologist" or "chef" etc. because those are professionals who can add some of their knowledge and use the video they're reacting to as an example of learning, and I'm not talking about FBE react channel because they're usually made to add something to a conversation about a certain subject. The videos I'm talking about are the ones where it's literally just an ordinary person watching a random video on youtube trying to suck views from the original audience. I think it's a lazy way of making videos that does nothing except appeal to or against people's confirmation bias.

"vocal coach reacts"  most of them doesn't really judge objectively and just bluntly praise everything especially if it a very popular and requested artist/singer . for the random people reacting they're just using trends to have views and make money but i noticed from the past few years when it comes to kpop especially people doesn't click stupidly anymore views doesn't flow anymore

omg there's literally one "vocal coach" i can think of right now who just over exaggerates how amazing every single kpop singer is

the worst type is those who as soon as whatever they're reacting to ends go "well guys thanks for watching! remember to like...etc" like you're not even going to discuss the video? at least do something

Agree!

I watch reaction videos mostly to hear what they have to say about it, like a different opinion/point of view (although really few of them are honest)

If the video has a plot twist or something surprising then i watch it for THE reaction

exactly, them not even discussing just feels like theyre trying to take the easy way to get views

Tbh i m only interested in reaction to music that im a fan of, for them to love it as i do. Not like i actually care 4 their opinion. I mean like when im watching album reaction. Im not sitting thru 20-30 mins of someone just vibiing i could just listen 2 album myself. Its a 2 min vid to me cuz i just watch the parts ab my fav songs off the album.

Regarding mv reaction tho i dunno. I literally haven't watched any those in month. But its prolly the same.  I just watch bc i want them to praise song i like. I have no interest in vid otherwise

This all being said. Im not huge fan of music reaction vids. But i do watch A LOT of movie and tv show 'reaction" vids. I think they're more seen as commemtary vids than reaction tho. Anw my fav yt channel is Pretty Much It (i also am fan of a frw other similar channels like trin lovell & dylan is in trouble) where they ll put full commentary tracks for tv series/movies on their patreon (which ive been a member for over a yr so yea big fan.) But their yt is basically condensed versions of their commentary tracks. And ive def watched every vid multiple times n some tracks i listen to constantly its basically a podcast which..i love listening to podcasts which is prolly a big reason i love them. Well i also think they're just rly funny.

Speaking as someone who took vocal lessons (I'm not a good singer at all but I understand the theory) his technique isn't immaculate so that says a lot about his credibility as a "vocal coach."

i also know the basics and 90% of those called vocal coaches doesn't even touch on technical aspects , he's just one of the millions of commercial singers . many would probably be broken without youtube revenues

Omg 🤣

I heard him singing when he was replicating some high notes trying to explain something about it and I felt the same thing lol I was a little sceptical but then i said to myself "well he is the vocal coach". So i wasn't the only one XD

On that note, with all those singers would it hurt them to lift their soft palate a little? It seriously bothers me. They always talk about how throaty a person is yet they're not creating space???

it just most of them take cheap lessons where nasality/throatiness  is okey as long as they get the notes out even in mainstream( camila , shawn ,sam smith and all the new singer i don't even remember the names ) .those men/women just go the easy road no time to build a real vocal base everything is very superficial

It's not a healthy way to sing and it really bothers me, there are ways to get a desired tone without having to damage your voice. And it really bothers me how they say they "love" music when in reality they love the attention. If they loved music they would take time to actually understand the craft.

I like them when they have something constructive to say, when they talk about the music itself, the mv and even the members, but I hate the ones where they pause every two seconds and have over the top reactions like falling off their chair, jumping around or start screaming like maniacs. It's annoying as fuck and gets old after just one video.
