Anyways, Yoongi doesn't give a single fuck, he used it knowingly and said whatever he had to say. Sheeps like y'all are baited and trapped just like that.
No one has the right to censor art. Feel disturbed and be uncomfortable. That's how you should be feeling.

Sheeps who? Fuck off

Well, It's not like I expected people whose faves have never ever made social commentary to understand context behind the whole song and lyrics, which basically criticizes cult and hive mind mentality. K-pop stans seriously have tunnel vision and lack critical thinking. They are too used to listening and watching things that make them comfortable and can't accept anything that might slightly disturb them.  He isn't the only person who has sampled Jim Jones speech. Lana Del Rey, Lil Uzi Vert, Brockhampton, Post Malone all did, but fake outrage is always directed at BTS.

fans like you are the reason why kpop idols will never own up their mistakes. he fucked up, big time. there's no justification for this. it is very insensitive for him for making use such a traumatic history for his song

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand BTS

I'm just going to wait for a clarification from BigHit or Suga himself (if there's gonna be any), because no one in their right mind would use the sample or even link themselves to such man to promote violence and murder. This is either a case of massive ignorance from him or whatever producer or just a misunderstanding. Jumping on the hate bandwagon will do no good, there's one thing to raise awareness on an issue and ask for an apology, and other just to throw mud on someone just for the sake of hating while zero caring for the actual issue at hand.

this cult like mentality from armys has been very alarming for a while now but seeing it NOW considering the context of it all makes it even scarier

it's the way these men can do no wrong in their eyes that's really allarming. Its not as bad here but the ridiculous things and gaslighting I'm seeing on twitter right now is very frightening

The only reason you notice that is because Armys are a really really big fandom, if not the biggest fandom active on social media. Thus, things tend to go out of control, especially on Twitter. And even if it might seem like a lot of people are trying to defend or reason his action, it is most likely just some small part of the fandom.

Anyways, an explanation from Yoongi's or Bighit's side would be good tbh.

i gotta love armys trying to shield this with basically "well u dont understand because ur faves never release ~DeEp MuSiC~
as if the rest of the songs lyrics arent

"The ten zeros in my bank account, that money is the collateral for my youth
I got a big house big car big ring, bring anything over, I’ll give it to you, my black card
The bastards that received media benefits were on-air more often than me
And the brats that boast about their money, you have to wonder how much they could’ve actually earnt
Woo woo, yeah, money boasts are only cute to me now"

real deep right there

but please do keep trying to come up with reasons why a sample of a speech of a mass murderer fits these lyrics

Listen, it's one thing if he and/or Big Hit comes out and gives an explanation to the context of using the sample to begin with. People still very well may disagree with the usage in general, but at least that's coming his or their mouth and ends all speculation regardless if it helps his case or not.

However, as of now, it's kinda hard to give these takes a bit more weight when a good deal of the fandom has completely changed their narrative on this situation. We went from 'he didn't produce it, so he likely didn't come up with the idea to use it, or didn't know the full history or context of the audio' to ''he's using the sample to criticize the cult/hive mentality and it's actually works because Jim Jones was apparently anti South Korea so it's okay'.  It went from trying to distance him from any potential responsibility to painting him as some sort of artistic genius because of it

And again, while I can't speak about about any criticism each and every artist has or hasn't received for their references to Jim Jones, it doesn't mean it's still not potentially problematic or uncomfortable to some. In general, I know Lana Del Rey has been criticized various times for her lyrics and topics she's included, but I'll admit I have not gone through each and every piece of work that examine their use of reference or sampling they've done.

But I feel like the defense that those who are voicing their issues with this are either 'not smart enough to understand how deep it's suppose to be' or 'people just want to complain because it's a BTS member' is just weak.

I just need to understand the whole thing now before I make a judgement

Kudos to you for saying it’s not right. Just because you’re a fan someone doesn’t mean you have to be behind them all the time. Call them out when you don’t feel right about something

Okay now tell us in what part of the song we can find that deep social commentary related to Jim Jones and that clever criticism to cults, is when he is talking about the #1 his group has in Billboard? or when he is flexing that he's bank account has 10 zeros? or maybe when he is boasting about how big his car, ring and house are with his shining black card ultra mega deluxe edition?

Your fandom had it easy, y'all just needed to say he messed up, he will be educated and will reflect deeply in his actions [Insert thinking Sasuke image] and that's it, y'all just made this situation worse. The way you use ''hive mind mentality'' like if you even know what that means, because that's what you and your fandom have right now.

Your whole post is condescending. This goes beyond kpop and for you to tell us that we have tunnel vision and lack critical thinking is insulting to say the least. You don't have to find it problematic, but to belittle those who do is wrong on so many levels.

The only sheep here that are baited & trapped are you and his fans who keep on defending and justifying his mistake with a seemingly unconditional and absolute faith in him that he is the ultimate artist  who does aRt and can NOT make a mistake as a human being.

Also, you don't need to add an 's' in pluralizing the word sheep.

Thanks. I have just had enough. This is one of the reason why I'm staying off that part of twitter. It's filled with people saying we're just too stupid to understand the complexity of it or we are just hating because our favs aren't that deep. It may have another meaning, but let Bighit say it. It's not that hard to say this was a mistake, but given that some of them knew about it since 2019 and didn't mention it to him, I'm not shocked that they're brushing it off.

WHY on earth would you sample a mass murderer in a song which contributes nothing to it at all? With the way people nitpick on everything the "biggest woke-st UNICEF endorsing, multimillionaire, record breaking boy group in the world" does, he has to be either incredibly dumb or bored.

It is no secret that I am not the biggest BTS fan in the world.  But come on now ...they are making it too easy with these wild controversies that pop up every week. My condolences with the fans who have to constantly break their backs conjuring an explanation. How many emails have been typed and sent now?
