Chinese actor Gao Yunxiang (also known as Gavin Gao) was acquitted of sexual assault charges in March, two years after he was first arrested on allegations of rape and sexual assault in Australia. After he left the Sydney courtroom a free man, he quickly jetted back to China, where he has been laying low ever since.

It's been a rough two years for the actor. His wife, actress Xuan Dong, with whom he has a three-year-old daughter, divorced him last March after eight years of marriage. He was also sued for an undisclosed amount by the producers of his drama Win The World (also known as The Legend of Ba Qing). The show, which was slated to be aired, had to be shelved completely after his scandal broke.

Even though he was cleared of all charges, the 37-year-old's reputation has taken a big hit — he did cheat on his wife — and is reportedly struggling to make ends meet because he isn't able to find work.

Netizens now claim that Yunxiang is earning a living by selling his used branded goods on China’s largest second-hand marketplace, Xianyu.

One such netizen shared an experience buying headphones from a person he believes is Yunxiang. Screenshots of their conversation showed the actor, whom the netizen described as “polite and well-spoken”, taking time to respond to queries about the RMB700 (S$140) Libratone headphones he was selling.

When the package arrived, it came with a handwritten note that said, “Thank you for your support”. It was also signed off with Yunxiang’s name. A photo of the note has since been shared widely on Weibo, along with screenshots of Yunxiang's alleged personal page, which shows various branded products, like a Burberry shirt to a pair of Valentino sneakers selling at RMB600 (S$120) and RMB1900 (S$380) respectively.

“He’s not even selling his stuff for a lot of money which shows just how much he needs the funds,” wrote one netizen.

Well, if that's really Yunxiang, that is.
