Since Jpop is a genre of its own, does that mean Dreamcatcher is Jpop?

How is Dreamcatcher Jpop??? First of all, Jpop is not all heavy metal or rock sound. It's litterally "Pop". AKB48 with all their bright cute songs are also Jpop. Does that make AKB48 kpop then?

As for the Jrock which I guess is what you meant since Dreamcatcher seems to have a more rock inspired sound. The Japanese did NOT invent rock music. So if Koreans want to mix their pop with rock not sure how you automatically came out with Jrock.

Next this who comparison between Kaachi and Dreamcatcher is nothing but a false equivalency you made to prove a backwards point.

Leave Kaachi alone and stop gate keeping. As far as what can be and can not be considered Kpop there is no clear definition (if there were this point would not have been argued over and over again so long). I don't see Knetz getting their pants wet all over this so I don't see why ifans can't just eat their food. The more and more I see people mad about Kaachi the more I feel like they are jealous.

What do they have to be jealous of? lmao

Also if you consider Kaachi Kpop, all of the reasons you just have for why Dreamcatcher isn't Jpop/J-Rock....that all applies to Kaachi. Maybe unintentionally, but you contradicted your own argument.

J-Pop is Japanese pop. K-Pop is Korean pop. Kaachi is pop, but not Korean pop. Dreamcatcher is K-Rock/K-Pop. Kpop is not a genre. Pop is a genre and it's Korean pop if it's a) sung in Korean, or b) made by a Korean citizen/made in Korea.

If Kpop is not a genre, means Jpop is not genre, which means Dreamcatcher isn't Jpop.

So Kpop isn't a genre.

No. Pop is the genre, its just that it's song in Korean. Same like how Ariana Grande is pop but she's singing in English

And if Ariana was singing in Korean for her next single it would be called Kpop. We would call her a Kpop artist.

We didn't call boa and dbsk jpop artists just because they released and promoted Japanese songs 😅 I don't understand why you're trying so hard to be obtuse.

Dreamcatcher isn't jpop artist because they don't come from Japanese company, not entirely have Japanese discography. I'm not sure why people call kaachi kpop group since they neither produced by korean company, debuted in korea, nor sing in korean. Instead of genre, I'd say kpop and jpop are styles used for idols. We don't call Korean pop singers "kpop artists", right.

I'm not trying hard. I'm trying to fully understand what each person is saying by asking questions. In some cases people are contradicting themselves...

So for you they're not Kpop. Location and language is important.

I've  seen some people call them "artist" tho. It's just not a widespread popular term like "idol". Many people feel idols are simply not "real" artist which is why they don't call them artist.
