Marionette failed because it was purely gratuitous fanservice. That’s lazy. Think of all the best R-rated films that contain themes and content that are inappropriate for young children (eg. sex, violence, drugs, etc). They must exist to advance the plot or develop characters. I agree. It has to have a real plot to deviate from purely gratuitous fanservice. Like how TroubleMaker with their R19 uncut MV. They kinda got away because there was an actual plot they were able to work with, notwithstanding the fact Hyunseung and Hyuna were heavely making out in one scene; had a bed/sex scene; implied threesome; smoked cigarettes; there were abundance of alcoholic beverages; and other bunch of R19 stuffs you normally never see on a kpop video. It was definitely lost within the sexy comebacks. if Stellar had went the extra mile with them quenching their "thirst" (aka male backup dancers) they would have drawn less heat.
