Wake me up when we have these types of boy groups again.

I don't know how to describe them. Concept wise, music wise, styling wise is very different from what we are getting from this current.

Heck, even on their days, they were already different from the norm, very deviant.

End of my TED Talk. Hope you get it.

A.D.T.O.Y. was one of the first songs I heard when I first got into KPop. It's still one of my fave songs and will forever be. Really love that concept!

And oh my god Fiction! I love that song too! I always get teary eyed listening to Fiction! It's just so beautiful!

Smoky Girl too! Also one of the first songs I heard.

And VIXX! The concept kings!

The nostalgia this post brings! I'm very emotional right now!

You mean like classy/mature?

SF9's Good Guy kinda has that style. Also, CIX's movie star, the boyz's reveal, got7's you calling my name, etc. There's still a few groups doing that classy and mature concept tbh.

Smokey -
Sound is just average club music
Style their outfits are just suits mostly. Not uncommon to see

ADTOY -
Sound is old school like old school Western groups; outdated (I was hardcore stan before this song)
Style mature MV story line concept

Fiction -
Not sure how to describe the sound. (Probably my favorite song of the ones listed here)
Style feels outdated. Outfit and MV. (So I wouldn't want to go back)

Chained up -
There's probably small company groups doing similar sounds and styles. I don't see anything different here tbh. Many have been influenced by VIXX nowadays too

CIX is heading down that path. I have hope for The BOYZ, ATEEZ, and if TXT's concepts see a shift as the members get older

Highly doubt TXT will go there anytime soon. BH will continue catering to the younger girlies with them until BTS is mostly in hiatus due to enlistment. Otherwise they'd get in each others way marketing-wise.

I never really liked Mblaqs music for some reason and while b2st had some bops i never really got into them lol

Vixx probably has the most songs that I like, I can't think of any of their songs rn that I would skip~

Yeah, I did say "if". Maknae line needs at least 2 more years before attempting anything mature like that

It feels like Kpop constantly fluctuates within a short span of time. I think those were the days when idols were encouraged to start being a little more "real" and act their age. They didn't get picked apart by just talking to the opposite sex in a variety show, showing a more mature image, acknowledging that they cuss, drink, watch porn, shoving food down their throats, making mistakes on shows, being goofy, being the butt of jokes, etc. And that type of image was reflected in their music, which also became more mature without being "tryhard" and started to cater to individuals (male and female) who were closer to the idols' actual age. Beast idol and girl crush was really starting to slap around this time. Some idols started putting on more "adult" concerts. Messages in songs started shifting.

Now I feel like idols are encouraged to be more creative and really show their skills but still present this perfect and larger than life image, so you don't get that same mature concept, but you get unique concepts and fun concepts.
