I just use a rice cooker and I only put in water and rice, no oil or salt. Why the salt? I thought the whole point of rice was to balance out the saltiness of the main dishes.

I also put the same amount of cups for water as I do for the rice. So if it's two cups of rice, it's two cups of water. Too much water makes the rice really disgusting and soggy.

edit: actually no wait, i dont put two cups of water. our rice cooker has measurements that show how much water you should put in depending on how many cups of rice you have. it's been a while since i last cooked rice

Rice and water is all u need

Also Asians not really measure the water, we do the finger trick (I assume most SEA people do that same trick). Just google and you can see it since im not good at explain it in English :meow:

There are millions of ways of cooking rice. Everyone is clearly just being fake  outraged because it's fun.

Wait till some of these 'Asians's' see my mum's traditional and very regional pilau (rice dish) that has raisins in it. Yea... We're Asian too.

eh i cannot be bothered with all that. i just throw some rice in a pan and cover it with water, turn the stove on until it’s cooked. don’t see the point of the oil? and literally that’s so much salt for what reason? but why would anyone get mad over the way someone cooks rice? lol

That's how everyone cook PLAIN rice but we add butter & no oil for more flavour. Don't let them fool you!
