I don't think the corona mess will end anytime soon

You can never know. Corona virus may just go away mysteriously just like the SARS last time. Anyhow, it may be impossible to develop a vaccine as corona virus is a mutation expert. It may turn into new type before the vaccine for the current type is approved.

I saw somewhere say it was mutating slowly.

It was very naive of you to think it would end soon.

Obviously. What irks me the most is when young people say that they won't die if they get it, and people are still going out. Like it just means you're less likely to die if you're young and relatively healthy. There are various numbers on the death rate of it, but those are with people getting medical care. Hospitals are already crowded. Like if everyone got the virus, not everyone can go to the hospital and get medical care for it, and the death rate will be higher. That's my thought process on it.

At first, the french government announced a quarantine of 15 days. Now that those 15 days are almost over, they announced an extension of 15 days... but tbh I don't believe the quarantine will be over on the 15th of April. My uni aims for the start of may, while my stepdad who works in the military told me they think (in his base) it would probably be toward june...

The government here made it so people would think it could end soon, but tbh seeing how it goes in other countries I had no hope it would be so short.

Yeah and even some young and relatively healthy people have died too. I remember a doctor in China that was as young as 28 and healthy and still died from being constantly exposed to it.

I hope that at least the worst would be over after spring. I'm pretty lucky since even though I lost my job I should be able to make it through the summer thanks to my family, but I really wonder how can people of the world really live if they lose their jobs for months or even a year or so. We might even get waves of the virus coming back.

true....the fact this virus is so contagious, can show zero symptoms,  and takes forever to appear is a very very dangerous combination

i would feel confident if people were getting tested and hospitals had sufficient supplies like vents and masks but without them and the fact so many people are going to public spaces are bound to create endless loops if those same people go home to give it to their families.

my real concern is the economic impact since while I know some people can survive 1 month without work to pay rent, 2-5 months is definitely not an option.

The virus has mutated and the Italian version is more powerful leading to quicker damage of the lung thus, the thrilling death toll in Italy and Spain. This Italian version also is becoming resistant to favipiravir, one of various medications used to treat COVID-19.

I don't know who was/were your "you" but, I neither believe it will end soon nor late. I believe the virus is unpredictable. The chance it will end sooner is as thick as the chance it will end later. The disease becoming a new normal, like influenza or dengue also is a possibility.

It's definitely not going anywhere any time soon, sadly. Some people still think it's no big deal and are just casually chilling doing all this non-essential stuff. It actually annoys me and these selfish idiots are part of the problem.

if people took it seriously earlier maybe it wouldn't have gotten this bad.  but as usual people don't take it serious until it affects them personally.  Now we have cities on lockdown, no flights, people losing their jobs, stocks declining,  everything is a domino effect.
