How long do u think until kpop fades to obscurity forever

It could end this year as foreign venues are all closed and newer songs will be harder to come out.

It almost ended in 2014 following the ferry accident. A very old school, reactionary singer , who had previously taken a picture with anchovy, had returned to infect Korean pop with her style of sleepy ballads, and her attempt almost succeeded. She is still around and will try again to wrest the control of KPop from the KPoppers whose hands are now tied.

Kpop will always have its niche market so it won't "fade to obscurity". If anything it'll become less popular with i-fans like it happened to jpop, but it'll still have their fans. Also, kpop wasn't even "global" in the 90s and early 00s and there was still plenty of popular groups doing fine so...

Kpop will end soon enough while Jpop overtake em. I can see kpop became more unpopular by next year.  🐍

Honestly, no hype for kpop whatsoever right now and it is worrying. 😕

Based on my experience I will say that kpop survives only by trends but does not have an original style, while jpop is an official category and that at this time they know how to use digital platforms without the need for mediaplay and compete with the first music market. Only Bit Hit as YG can keep the market, unless SM and JYP bet on kpop style again

Even if the fad did fade in the West it will likely take a couple of years seeing as most Kpop fans if they stan they tend to stan hard which can span YEARS. Literally got into Kpop with EXO and stanned them for like 5 years before calling it quits. And within that time frame western society might have evolved again to truly be more culture inclusive and won't care as much about language or reading subs which may just help the market.

I feel like once the current hype/trend dies down it will become more like it was before (pre 2012) where there were still some internationl fans, but it was much more niche. I feel like a few songs or one or two groups might still manage to become popular internationally again, but I honestly think BTS are the peak of how popular Kpop will reach internationally. I don't think any group will become as big as BTS.
