You can't trust any politician ever. It's part of their job to lie and manipulate information. This is normal. We may hate it, but we should understand it as well, so we don't get bamboozled. You have to understand what they have to gain or lose about the situation. CCP needs to show strength because they can't afford civil arrest in their country. They need control because they are paranoid (with reason as Chinese history is all about central power losing control).

Making up information or not, they will always put a spin to make them look strong and in control. Even if they are inaccurate, it's their best interest to solve this crisis ASAP. They care about control over economy unlike most countries in the West. They don't need to worry about reelection, so they are less incentivize to appeal to the public besides showing strength. If they are lying, it will be about it, but at the same time they need to really clear the house. They probably can't lie much about not having the situation under control. At least their incentives to do so are less than Trump for instance. They will just spin it as a positive and make themselves look good.

This discourse isn't for the world. They know it won't be taken seriously. If it was the truth, they would take the legal channels with proof. Not make proclamation like this. If this was truth, it would be a good weapon to destroy confidence in the USA as a world leader. However, clowning around like this just show it's not the truth. It kinda makes sense because both of their biggest enemies of USA are taking big hits at the moment. However, it would be a big blunder to have it spread outside these two countries and spread to SK, Japan, Saudi Arabia, UK, you know key allies of the Americans and the possibility to shoot their own foot.

I mean, I can imagine this movie and they did blunders of similar caliber we still have to deal with decades later. However, Chinese counter-intelligence is better than CIA IMO. President Trump being the clown he is would be the perfect actor for this mess.

However, USA is a bully playing the role of police and he has no finesse. China is no pushover. I'd maybe consider this a plan from the Russians (who got the most badass spies save Sir Christopher Lee) trying to frame Americans and make China and USA fight it out. Like I said, you have to understand what each nation, faction, leader, and oligarchy want and how their geopolitical situation shape the balance of wants. In this case, it's a pretty weak case considering today's politics. Maybe in the 80s it made some sense. China wasn't the manufacturers of the world and using such bioweapon and disguise it as another local plague could make some sense and these things were considered during the cold war if you read about documents of the era.

However, it doesn't make sense in a post-Cold War world where supply chains are interlocked and human transit and telecommunication ties the entire world together despite different ideologies.

my point is  how the virus is called wuhan 400, what a coincidence 

and the original work  was about Russia but then after the defeat of USSR, the author changed it to China 

anyway I know exactly what  you  are talking about. It's just I am  in the middle of deep understanding of  the whole thing and as I said I'm still surprised  over the lack of reaction of leading governments in the west
