Gaon, counts the shipment of albums within & outside Korea

Haneto, counts albums sold on their official websites & stores

Are albums bought in other countries counted separately?

Something like that. It you buy from Haneto based website, than it's counted to Haneto. But if it's not brought from a Haneto website it's counted on Gaon; Gain also count Haneto sales too.

So basically: Haneto = Haneto websites & stores

Gaon = Haneto sales + shipment

So that means they have sold more albums outside korea? but for example groups that their international fandom it’s bigger that the korean one (like stray kids or ateez) the album sales of hanteo and gaon aren’t that much different, but loona went from 28k on hanteo to 79k on gaon. I just find weird that huge difference

Yes, basically. In Korea, Koreans buy from Haneto so Haneto use to judge Korean fanbase of artists but it can be faulty as international fans can buy from Haneto based websites.

Let's take BP & Izone as example. In 2019, Izine sold more than BP on Haneto but on Gaon BP sold more.

Probably because they shipped a lot of albums to stores around the world. Gaon counts the shipments to every store while Hanteo counts the sales in Hanteo-affiliated stores only. Loona has a big i-fandom, especially in US, so I wouldn't be surprised if they sold a lot of albums there.
