[PC] IDOLS WHO ARE BAD AT SINGING VS WHO ARE BAD AT DANCING

OP: I've been thinking about the 'idols who can't sing vs idols who can't dance' for a while, and I definitely think that I hate idols who can't dance even more
Reply: But usually, idols who can't dance can't sing either

original post: here

1. There are a lot of kids who can't sing but can dance well but I've never seen a kid who can't dance but sing well...

2. Kids who can't dance stand out more than kids who can't sing... kids who can't sing can only sing one line or not at all and it'll be fine. But if you can't dance, then from beginning to end....

3. I seriously can't tolerate kids who can't sing. Idols are singer and singing is their job so does it make sense that they sing even worse than commoners? They should at least have the bare minimum. If they can't, they should just practice to death

4. Don't think of becoming a singer if you can't sing

5. I do hate kids who can't dance more ㅋㅋ

6. They definitely have to know how to sing

7. When it comes to dancing, you can at least do the overall moves. But if you can't sing, you just won't be able to even if you put in effort

8. To be honest, I won't fangirl on either of the two, but if I had to choose, 1 is better...

9. If you can't sing, you can fix that with technology. But if you can't sing, there's no way to cover it

10. If the idol is in a group, dancing. If he's solo, singing

My idea: i want dance and at least average singing. For me being idol means being performer i cant accept someone who will distract me in stage nor someone who adds nothing to songs

Being a good singer matters way more..

Most of the time we're consuming their content by listening to their songs, not watching them.

I used to think singing didn't matter because the bad ones get less lines and are autotuned but then you listen to some of the songs JYP groups release and the things they do to mask the lack of vocals ruin the songs...

For example: the strained high notes in Got7's songs or when Twice does those weird sing-talk-raps or Itzy's shout-chants.

I think having some talent in singing is definitely important,  but if we are talking about a group performance the person who can't dance will stick out and make everyone else look bad. If someone can't sing then other members will just get more lines anyway, but you can't hide dancing

What kind of week ass drag even groups with outstanding vocalists manage to add in sing talk raps because they don’t have members that can RAP RAP..... I could name a few but I don’t care enough to and I’m sure everyone will have some in mind either way

i feel like I could be a better twice anti if I tried. Also it’s so damn obvious you clicked on this thread hoping it mentioned groups but when you realized it was a general post you got disappointed and took matters into your own hands ctfu sorry love

It sucks when they ruin good songs though, i.e. the shoddy adlibs in You Calling My Name, etc.

Groups with outstanding vocalists still add them but they don't RELY on them.

I personally would prefer singing over dancing. idk, I feel as though the main part of being a kpop idol is singing. you have to have at least a decent voice to get by. also songs where there are good vocals are way better then songs where the vocals are very sub par. I feel as though its more humiliating for an idol if they were to mess up singing then messing up the choreo. if you make music then your expected to know how to sing or rap. if your dancing isn't very good then I think people are way more understanding because dancing isn't everyone's thing and you can always make up for it in different ways.

And explain to me how twice reply on 5 second raps in a 3 minute song? Again, DM me if you want better drags I can help you brainstorm

I would also put singing over dancing (if it's a group, I don't expect everyone to sing well, but having a listenable vocal line at least is important to me). Even better if the idol can both sing and dance decently (even though I believe this should the most basic requirement for all kpop idols, but we all know things are not like that).

It's always so interesting to me that some idols cant sing or dance, even though they've trained for years.

most kpop companies don't have good vocal coaches and some of them neglect "visual" members from taking lessons. Although I do think it is weird when they can't dance.

The quality of Twice antis has dropped this far? Old OH twice antis were waaaaaay better and intereating in hating Twice than this clown tbh.

If we talk about those who totally cannot sing and totally cannot dance.. I prefer kids who cannot sing. In group of ten people, you can just give the one talking line. But kpop performance is relying a lot o synchronized dancing and tbh it makes those who cannot dance stand out a lot. Much more then one lipsynced line.

Whose adlibs are you talking about in YCMN?

If we're talking about the general type of idol group (not the vocal group like mmm), bad dancer is much more noticeable than bad singer. A lot of idols cant sing so it's common already, just do sing-talk and you're good to go. But for dancing, I think they're required to at least dance better or follow the choreography.

I can tolerate the below average singers since they're not going to sing the whole song and we have the main vocals to cover them but those bad or lazy dancers, I just cant.

You can just not dance like mmm

You make it sound like they don't dance at all and are still in the stage 😂. Have you seen Gogobebe and Hip coreographies?

Spoiler

Spoiler

They didn't do all this dance before. Hip was their first comeback in the 6 years that's been since their debut where they didn't have hand mics and had head sets instead. 2018 was the first year when their coreographies started to be used more for Dance Covers in YT but only in 2019 started to be frequent. They have improved a lot and their coreos have gotten harder.

Besides the recent, they had Piano Man coreo in 2014 and Decalcomanie coreo in 2016 which are both done exclusively in HIGH HEELS.

Spoiler

90% of their stages are with heels and Hwasa wears them like 99% of the time. They've been six years performing in 4/5 inches heels but their coreographies in heels don't receive recognition because they are not sexy like AOA, Sistar, Girl's Day...

You can say other GGs have more complicated coreo, but they wear boots and trainers for them...

Even if the coreographies is lacking they make up for it with amazing dance covers and solos anyways.

Spoiler

Hwasa did a whole dance collab with Chungha but they don't dance? :S
