In fiction, the title dentist ismostly attached to a creepy charachter with psychopatic tendencies. That makes me wonder, if dentists are seen in a creepy way in real life too. If so, for what reason? If not, then why is dentists are used that way in popular culture? Discuss

Dentists = pain. that's what everyone thinks, probably cuz first dentists didn't really have anything to make it hurt less and so generation from generation people would tell some terrifying stories. Or at least that's what I think. There is a book called "The Butchering Art" about beginnings of medicine, it's really good. I guess it would also apply to dentists lul

Now I found a new book to read, right up in my alley. Thanks :)

they are not scary lol but if you ever had your teeth removed slowly and painfully while being fully conscious is just a whole new level of pain i remember watching a horror movie and saw that been done to a fully grown man as a form of torture and i am like bruh this happened to me when i was like 9/10 years old lol i remember the sound of my teeth cracking while the doctor crushing it and pulling it and twisting it with a tool until he removes it i was trying to hold my tears while grabbing the bed tightly with my hands trying to endure that pain and my mom was standing a few feet away holding her hands and when i thought its done he proceeds to do that on the other teeth.... that was the last time i have been to a dentist i think it was like 17 years ago

That's exactly where the point stands tho. If you visit a dentist regularly, problems with your teeth will be dealt with when they are still small. But because you delay it for a long time, the damage gets much severe. And desperate times call for desperate measurements, like painful treatments in your case...
