Siobhan Halo

What did you do to prepare for Brexit?

Recommended Posts

Got settled status. :twitch:

Hoping my EU status won't make it difficult for me to find new jobs or rent a home. I've been living here since I was a baby so

Oh! And I stockpiled Hi-Chew sweets.

This will make me sound super dumb and ignorant but what does the Brexit really mean for you guys? I just would like to read the perspective of someone real.

Sorry if this sounds idiotic. I am just curious.

Not dumb at all, Brexit so weird and stupid it's difficult to know what it means for, as you say, real people.

In my case I have Irish citizenship (as well as Australian) so I can't be kicked out of the EU or the UK. My fiancée, however is French, and when Brexit won the vote we were keen to find what that meant for her but no-one could give us a definitive answer so, with that uncertainty, we sold up, left London, and moved to France in summer of 2017. At  this stage, apart from stocking up on Scottish chocolate bars, it doesn't mean too much.
