According to Gaon's review, TWICE is expected to remain in the top place in 2020.  Depnding on the number of comebacks, Blackpink could possibly keep their spot too. The competition among  RED VELVET, BLACKPINK, ITZY and IZ*ONE is expected to be fierce. IZ*ONE is expected to show the fastest growth base on their solid fandom power.

Spoiler

This settlement review is based on sales-based Gaon Index and album sales data for 2019 (excluding units and Kino albums, solo and collaboration, and OST activities).

*The overall ranking is the sum of music and album sales data at a ratio of 50:50.
(e.g., the best score in each category is given to the top girl group in the music and album categories, and the gap with the top spot widens, the lower the score will be).

*This settlement review is written for a total of 10 girl groups ranked in the top 100 of the annual digital chart or album chart in 2019 (BLACKPINK, ITZY, IZ*ONE, TWICE, Lovelyz, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Gfriend, Cosmic Girls and Fromis_9).

*Out of the top 100: Girls of the month, Apink, (G) I-dle, Dreamcatcher, Oh My Girl, Everglow, etc. didn't make this settlement.

TWICE's songs, which were the most popular in 2019 were "FANCY," "Yes or Yes," "Dance The Night Away," and "Feel Special." BLACKPINK appeared with "Kill This Love," "DDU DDU-DU-DU" and "Forever Young" and "Don't Know."

TWICE ranked No. 1 in album sales in 2019 alone, recording a total of 1.2 million. TWICE is the only team to have recorded album sales of more than 1 million copies for the second consecutive year since the girl group's settlement in 2015.

TWICE has topped each category of music and albums for three consecutive years since 2017, ranking first overall. Compared to 2018, Black Pink (48.1 points, 2018) is the only team that maintained the gap with TWICE, while Red Velvet (53.5 points, 2018) and Mamamoo (39 points, 2018) showed a slight decrease in their scores compared to last year.

Black Pink finished second in the overall ranking, up one notch from last year, with one comeback."

As of 2019, Black Pink's music power was little different from the first place (on a single album basis), but album sales were about 76 percent of the top.

IZ*One rose three notches to sixth place from ninth in the overall rankings last year."
Last year, sales of music and albums were balanced and grew evenly.

"The girl group market in 2020 will maintain TWICE's first-place structure, but the possibility of a second-tier structure will not be ruled out either, depending on the number of Black Pink's comeback."

"IZ*One is expected to show the fastest growth next year among Korean girl groups based on solid fandom."

- Closing remarks -

The girl group market in 2020 is expected to continue to be TWICE's first-place structure and the competition for rankings within TOP5 of "Red Velvet," "Black Pink," "ITZY" and "IZ*One" is expected to be fierce.

oh surprised fromis ahead omg and gidle when both groupa have far stronger digital this year

IKR. I get in physical sales but digitals? You only have to look at the digital points. OMG and G-idle have songs with +100M-150M while Fromis9 is not even in the list, and WJSN/Lovelyz have very low (under 10-20M) digital points.

WJSN, Lovelyz and Fromis9 barely charted. How are they gonna have more digitals than Gidle, OMG or A Pink? Idgi.

According to this person, you have to make either top 100 of the year-end digital chart (only Twice, BP, ITZY and Mamamoo did) or top 100 of the year-end album chart. Groups with decent digitals across multiple songs but weak album sales got boxed out by Gaon's requirements.

Oooh that makes sense then. I checked out gaon yearly top 100 album chart and the lowest at #100 is Kyuhyun with nearly 50k sales, so Gidle/OMG/A Pink didn't make it because they had less than that.
