  • Revenue beat estimates to stand at 587.9 billion won (US$495.2 million), while operating profit was 97.5 billion won, slightly missing the earlier consensus of 100 billion won
  • PLEDIS has newly joined WEVERSE. Big Hit CEO expected "synergies" between Seventeen and Big Hit but didn't comment on possible acquisition of their label.
  • A new girl group, a joint project between BIGHIT and SOURCE MUSIC will debut in 2021
  • BTS's new world tour will deliver the "best" content working with entertainment architecture studio STUFISH which has worked with Jay-Z and U2

Big Hit Three Sixty :
• is in charge of all BH sublabels’ concerts, album distribution, media contents etc 
• BH 360 was in charge of BTS’ world tour, TXT’s showcase tour, on/offline media contents, the Playzone (at BTS concerts)

 

There were 62 concerts with 2.06 million people
• they brought all the equipment in 50 12-meter containers around the world 
• for the 3 Seoul concerts, they spent $10.1 million on production, labor etc
• over 410k fans watched the live viewings (in theaters) & 230k watched the livestream (VLive)
• over 4.6M people saw the three films (burn the stage, ly in Seoul, bring the soul)
• this equals 5.55M people who experienced performance content w/o going to the concert
• that’s 2x the actual number of concert goers (2.06 million)

BH IP (IP = intellectual property) :
• they deal w/ developing secondary content using the artists’ IP to create a variety of products like characters (chibis), animation, publications

 

• the Popup Stores were a way to enhance brand value and diversify
• had 2 types of popup stores: tour popup stores (world tour stops) and “integrated experience space” (House of BTS)
• the London popup store had the highest sales and most # of visitors
• House of BTS was in Korea, Japan & Mexico and had over 400k visitors
• the integrated experience store showed the possibility of further developing these into “urban theme parks”
• turned songs into IP: DNA, Mic Drop, BWL were turned into products = new business model

• in 2020, they plan to:
- open popup stores in tour cities as well as locations that artists haven’t been to
- listen to customer feedback
- develop own products & collab with partners
- prepare more music IP and will release when ready

• beNX is in charge of platforms weply & weverse


• 5M weverse users: BTS = 3.3M, TXT = 1.25M, gfriend = 380k
• over 1.4M daily visitors from 205 countries
• 29M total posts, 37M total replies, 300M likes
• usage of the mobile app to purchase merch at the LY:SY final concerts → waiting times decreased for fans (less than 1 hr)
• merch sales increased 2.1x for the Oct 2019 show compared to the Aug 2018 show at the same venue

BIGHIT Goals:
• expand the Play Zone as part of the world tour
• host city = festival
• “tour village” = hotels w/ BTS theme, BTS exhibitions, BTS popup stores, limited edition BTS beverages at a food/beverage store, local travel
• all possible via reservations on weverse/weply
• will start to develop this “Olympic style” festival with certain cities
• try to improve the merch purchasing process by: 
- try to ship using local distribution centers, localize payment methods, cut shipping costs & simplify the user interface

  • Tour Village," a concert tour program that, for instance, consists of themed hotel, pop-up store, exhibition, special food and beverage and additional local tours in concert cities. 
  • BIGHIT added they are also building a localized delivery system for merchandise goods. The first destinations include the US and Japan.
  • TXT is kicking off their first world tour this year. And their new album is expected to come out within the first half of the year

BIHGIT worked with SOURCE MUSIC and CBO Min Heejin (former SM creative designer) in Plus Global auditions (new girl group)

  • 50k girls, aged 13-19, auditioned in 16 cities
  • new girl group is expected to debut in 2021
  • the chosen trainees are already practicing

BH + CJ ENM = BELIFT
• goal is to take “kpop into the mainstream”
• planning to debut a multinational boy group in 2020
• observational reality program that showcases the debut group of BELIFT trainees but with fans around the world participating
• beNX will make the official website via a Weverse verification process

• Superb is known for music game development, games like TapSonic and SuperStar, which includes the game SuperStar BTS
• also made Pianista & Yumi’s Cells
• BTS MUSIC GAME: The chibis will be the stars of this new game
- any Weverse member can log in and play right away


• A new MV with chibis will be released in the first half of 2020 and 4 short animation episodes in the later half

  • HYYH The Notes Part 2 is coming (HYYH The Notes pt 1 sold > 200k copies on Weply last year)
  • HYYH graphic lyrics: 5 HYYH BTS songs will be recreated as 5 picture books, with beautiful illustrations to go wit lyrics
  • BU DRAMA: working wit Chorokbaem Media & writer Kim Sujin (drama is expected to come out in 2nd half of 2020 or 1st half of 2021)

Omg this is sooooo much great info! And if they did take over Pledis, i sincerely hope they can make a better change to how everyone is treated there. And I would love to see a cross over between the two groups. Or maybe a trio of some kind with BTS, GFRIEND, and Seventeen members.
