Article: Billie Eilish comments on winning '5 Grammy awards'... "Are you kidding?"

Source: Money S via Nate

1. [+537, -17] She did great but Grammy definitely prefers white artists. Artists of other races have it so much harder to win a Grammy.

2. [+373, -46] Everything aside, she shouldn't have won for the "singer" category~ Her singing talent is so-so.

3. [+327, -13] Grammy is racist. Billboard is much more public-friendly.

4. [+59, -1] When Beyonce released her legendary album, Adele swept all the Grammy awards. Since then they were called racist. How can Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift not win anything for this year?

5. [+57, -3] Honestly, it feels like they gave her too much.

6. [+45, -7] Only losers like Billie and she swept the Grammys this year ㅋㅋㅋㅋ It shows how there was no one that deserved to win ㅋㅋ

7. [+41, -5] Speechless... Grammy = Award show of ultimate Hongdae disease. If a pretty/handsome artist sings a public-friendly song, they don't approve it because "it's only about the singer's face." If an ugly artist sings a unique-sounding song, it's "great quality music!" "The best music from our standards that the public is too ignorant to understand!" Such a classy-wannabe award show ㅋㅋㅋ

8. [+39, -5] I don't think she's that great, I guess they can't help but support a fellow American.

-

Pann: Grammy's Billie bias is too much

1. [+58, -0] Ver.2 of Bruno. So glad Taylor and Beyonce didn't attend.

2. [+54, -1] She's the first female to sweep 4 awards including a rookie award and the second artist including male/female artists. She's the first in 39 years ㅋㅋㅋㅋ She's still 18 internationally and she broke Taylor's record to be the youngest to win the album of the year. It's insane ㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+38, -1] Grammy is infamous for giving one artists all. The current American music industry is topped by black artists, it feels like they're pushing Billie on purpose. She's a teenage white singer-songwriter, of course Grammy would be all over her ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Billie definitely feels like an industry plant to me. That doesn't mean she's without talent, it just means she is getting a major push by some very powerful people and getting opportunities that most people don't and wont for whatever reason. Apparently she's performing at the Oscars now, too? It took Beyonce 7-8 years to get that opportunity. It just seems like anybody can become a star almost overnight if you have a big enough machine behind you.

why are netizens talking about racism when sk is known to be super racist towards minorities. what a joke

So by your logic because some Koreans are xenophobic and racists, other Koreans can't talk about racism? There are a lot of racists in America, does that mean the non-racists in America aren't allowed to talk about racism?

Rosalia too

Everything is mediaplay push following sheeps buying your work for becoming pop star.

Non american non white will be have more complicated for Grammy and lobbies push.

Grammys love to push successful white people.

I liked Billie Eilish album and I read she had the most sellest album of 2019 so at least AOTY she deserved but Ari deserved SOTY for Thank u next. Grammys revenged of her for the incident of last year.

Billie's parents are both actors and musicians, she was literally born in the show business industry. There's no mystery to her rise, she just knows the right people.

Why is she even performing at the Oscars? It’s like I have to see her pushed everywhere and I’m tired of it. I don’t get her emo chic demon appeal, and the fact that she’s one all of the awards with her first commercial success while people like Nicki Minaj and Harry Styles can’t even get recognition is just mind blowing to me.

I don't really know her music but I have heard her name a lot among US music fans last year and to be called Bruno v2 (which I assume is referring to Bruno Mars) seems to indicate that her music is good (because I think Bruno Mars has a lot of good enjoyable music). In my opinion, Grammy used to be more relevant globally because US popular musicians used to be more popular and more relevant globally but the awards itself have always been based on US markets (including the industry politics) so fair or not I'd leave it on US music fans especially those that have been following Grammy for a long time. I also can't help but be curious on whether K-netizens' assessment of Billie Ellish's wins on Grammy is affected with Billie's casual appearances in contrast to Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

I can’t even use the arguement of her selling  He most records in 2019 as a valid arguargument to winning AOTY because when has that ever mattered? To see everything is a major wtf and a serious bias and just confirms her industry plant status.

Like best vocal pop album or ED ARI BEYONCÉ ?!?!?? What a joke

And It's hardly a shock that Ed didn't win, that album's reception was mixed at best

I thought some of the songs were decent on Ed’s album and I am pretty sure The Gift was the Lion King sound track? Even l Taylor was nominated for best vocal but I guess they have a new darling

It’s not Billies fault that her team is amazing and doing their job marketing and promoting her. Same as Rosalia who’s signed to the same Label as Lil Nas X, Adele and BTS btw (Columbia) and of anyone is an industry plant it’s H.E.R! Billie is literally signed to a major label and has pretty much ALWAYS been!

Musically Billies album was superior than everyone she was nominated against.. only Lana could of won against her...

Im not sure why people are acting like Ariana Grande was snub or of her album was some grand-odious musical masterpiece when it wasn’t. This was NOT her Daydream moment!

Thank U Next is a cute pop record.. but it was not groundbreaking or revolutionary in fact the album took sounds that was already popular and took it and made it into a pop-r&b record. Sweeter Ed is a better album than TUN and that’s why Sweetener won!

Billie deserve ALL her awards PERIOD! Musically, Sonically, Lyrically, Production and Engineering (hence why Finease won Grammies for best engineered album and Producer of the year) Billie releases a BODY of work, Ariana released an album full of great songs!

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Range of emotions and storytelling and well being so young and diving into topics of Love, Hate, Depression, Su*cide, Angst, satire, Loneliness, friendship. Also the fact that Billie and Finease wrote and produced this album on their own vs Ariana who had multiple songwriters and producers on her songs. The Grammys have ALWAYS preferred the Singer-Songwriter type!

Bad Guy is also the most complex song on the nominations for ROTY and SOTY. If you think TUN is lyrical superior or if Old Town Rown deserve ROTY just because it broke records, well this isn’t the BBMAs but the Grammys and his song was only nominated because it was too big to ignore. And the fact that his EP was in the AOTY category when it was critically panned by critics and GP alike proves this. If they wanted to pander they could if nominated IGOR as Tyler is Black and Ghey as well! And his album is superior.

Nah, Ariana Grande had one big/hit song last year and it was good but very simple, cute, and pop. It did not deserve Song of the Year. If Thank U, Next was SOTY....that would be pretty sad. I love that song, but it's just cute and poppy, nothing groundbreaking at all.

Billie's music, many songs of hers, were EVERYWHERE. She had more impact last year. I think Ari has more impact as a whole, but last year Billie dominated everything.

However, Grammys did Lizzo dirty. Lizzo had THE biggest hit of 2019, her vocals are killing it, she's fire and yet won like one award??? It was ridiculous. I think Billie deserved several awards, but no more than two or so. Five is wayyy too much despite her talent and impact.

I love her music, but she didn't deserve five awards. She deserved two, maybe three tops.
