Paris in the Rain

so on melon ive noticed that paris in the rain by lauv has been consistently on the charts for a while already, as well as 2002 by anne marie and comethru by jeremy zucker. but does anyone know why? none of these songs are top hits in western countries although all of these artists are relatively known. other english songs like bad guy and into the unknown are popular bc bad guy is probably the #1 song worldwide and into the unknown is the lead song from frozen 2, but what about the others?

it seems like getting onto melon in itself and charting high, even for popular korean artists, is difficult (eg. popular idol groups not charting or charting low - suju's new song isnt even on the charts)

is there a reason why paris in the rain in particular has had so much longevity on the charts when it was released nearly 3 years ago? did it appear in a drama or show or something that i dont know about? or is it simply a good song that koreans like for no specific reason?

i think koreans have started to listen to paris in the rain whenever it rains like how they used to listen to heize's you, clouds, rain so anytime it rains the song goes way up in the charts and as it's winter.....

and i dont know about elsewhere in the world, but 2002 was definitely a hit in the UK (maybe because anne-marie is british) but i couldnt go anywhere summer '18 and even last summer to some extent without hearing it

don't know about comethru but it's a really good song and it seems a lot of korean artists and choreographers have done covers of it - my biggest question is why is Know Me Too Well by New Hope Club at 65??? the mv doesnt even have 3 mil views

Red Velvet Wendy sang Paris in the Rain during one of her Instagram lives. Just found out by reading this thread that Jennie likes it too so welp, guess it's a song generally liked by koreans?

About 2002, I saw several korean singers make covers of it on Youtube. It's really popular. So I think some songs are simply popular in the korean community and they just spread, being promoted in different ways, whether it's a cover song, an idol mentioning it, being used in an ad, then things pile up and it becomes iconic. There are probably other influential figures or communication channels exclusive to koreans that we don't know about that maybe mention these songs too.
