The death and infected so far might be more than reported cause as I am aware, the hospitals in Wuhan are fully filled and lack of supplies as well. A lot more people possibly infected are not accounted for as people are staying in their home. This virus is not detectable if you have it during incubation like if you don't have a fever or other symptoms showing, you can still carry the Coronavirus so make it hard to detect. (what is reported in the news>>>>not enough info on it yet). I hope they change the name of this virus.

What's worse about this Wuhan virus, it takes time to show symptoms. So most go unnoticed and undetected until hours later. So thats why alot of them were able to pass through airports screening and get to board on the plane. And then the virus is detected when they arrived at their destination or worse they're at hotel/home/public places.

The movie Contagion really accurately portrayed and predicted this.

Also, I read there's one girl from China/Wuhan with the virus who cheated by taking painkillers to lower her body temp during the screening to be able to pass through the gate and board on the plane go to France. I heard alot cheated and ran away.

That's how scary it is. It's a pandemic. It's Sars/Mers/H1N1 all over again and worse partly because It's CNY/Lunar New Year atm. Alot of Chinese worldwide are travelling to go celebrate and meet their relatives and friends around the world. It's uncontrollable.

This is why it is scary. China is also taking this seriously since during SARS it didn't go well which I heard but if I am right like this is also the largest lockdown/quarantine ever over close estimate of 56M-60M people now, this extreme measure is also due to CNY since like you said, people travel all over the world in massive numbers. They are also building 2 hospitals to take care of the infected in a week. The reported numbers of death/infected are really hard to believe as well as from Chinese government. It is hard to say how bad this virus is spreading right now over there.

Also, I would like to correct OP when you said over 2000+ is infected. 

Actually, I saw various vids posted by doctors/nurse/staffs at the hospital who treated those patients themselves and they said there are actually around 90,000 infected not just mere 2000. The Chinese govt is actually lying trying to downplay and make it seems it isn't as serious as it seems when it actually is.

It's actually alot worse than what is reported by the govt officials to the world. You can actually search and see vids of the doctors and nurses crying and having mental breakdown. There's just too many. Some doctors are reportedly dead while trying to treat these patients. Alot of corpses abandon/are being left on the floor because there aren't enough space.

Did you read the article that gave those numbers? The majority of people who are infected have very mild symptoms or not even showing them. It's arguably one of the reasons this spread so quickly, people didn't realize that they were sick. No one citing those numbers are actively claiming 100,000 people are deathly ill. Those number include people who are having very mild cases, similar to how the flu ranges from mild to severe.

The cat is out of the bag already. Hope it doesn't become the Spanish influenza 2.0. I think it started very mild and then mutated to something stronger and actually attacked more aggressively the people with healthier immune systems. Also, nations hiding about it didn't help (it's called Spanish influenza because Spain was the first to openly report on that at the time).

This could happen with coronavirus. It starts mild and spreads everywhere and then mutates to something more dangerous. Also, China is probably tweaking the numbers to save face. Their government is pretty corrupt, but this could destabilize them forcing them to act properly, so I'm not that worried about numbers and proper reaction. Hopefully each country that has contact with Wuhan residents will take matters seriously.

My fear is it spreading to an area that doesn't take the necessary precautions and it mutates there.

I don't think this is the doom for humanity or something dramatic like that as we do have tools to properly fight it, but it's an extra blow to the eroding worldwide trading and diplomatic relations. I don't fear an extinction event as it looks a bit dubious, but I fear a dark ages coming sooner.

Ah yes. The media telling us about the latest virus which is going to kill us all. I've seen a dozen or so of these in my life time. The death rate right now is estimated to be 2-4%. Significantly less than the 10-30% of SARS and MERS. Like other viruses the actual death rate is probably even lower when you take into account all of the people with mild symptoms. People who never bother to seek treatment. Unless you're wearing a tin foil hat and honestly believe there is some sort of global conspiracy to cover up the truth about how deadly the new virus is.

I mean the current numbers coming from China worth of 5 or 6 days so far is not really correlating with cases of infected in other countries who all had some sort of contract with people coming from Wuhan. The chances of possible infected are in the hundred of thousands I mean if only like China said 4k infected (most in Wuhan) is true, we won't get many infected cases outside of China. The current virus is in it is infancy so can't really compare with peak of SARS or MERS. Yes, I doubt this virus would be the end of humanity lol The only thing making this virus dangerous is that it won't show any symptoms during incubation period so in that time people can spread it to others without knowing they have it. The ones with weak immune system will be at risk so elderly people and infants/young children. (so far known from this virus). Hope this virus doesn't mutate.

people are overreacting about this whole thing and it’s so fucking annoying like. do people realise that most of the people dying are either very young, very old or already ill and in poor condition. regular healthy people aren’t out here dying. it’s just a flu.
